DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITIES: The Controller is an integral part of the Accounting and Finance Department and works closely with the Chief Financial Officer to plan and direct the accounting operations of the organization. The employee makes a significant contribution to the financial sustainability and overall success of Lifeline Connections. In this position, you will oversee payroll, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting. The Controller also trains and works with other members of the accounting team to maintain accurate and complete records, provide complex analysis, modeling, planning functions, responsible for maintaining and updating FTE allocations, accuracy of payroll, disbursements, general ledger, and compliance with state and federal codes and state and county contracts. The Controller will have strong communication skills and possess great attention to detail in a multitasking environment. Duties will include:
Manage payroll, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, contract and grant billings, and financial and grant reporting.Develop and train staff in the accounting team.Prepare and review monthly journal entries and accruals.Review monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts.Prepare monthly agency and department financials.Review contracts and oversee grant awards; Monitor and responsible for expenditures and revenues for compliance and to maximize opportunities within contracts and partnerships.Review grants and ensure expenditures are in accordance with contracts.Review Accounting policies to ensure proper controls and compliance with regulations.Participate in the development and monitoring of annual budget process for the organization and departments.Educate, support, and train department managers and program directors on the budgeting and variance processes; Develop appropriate budgets per program/department and make recommendations for how managers and directors can adhere their respective budgets.Deliver presentations to managers and executives as needs arise.Provide exemplary customer service internally and externally;Oversee quarterly and annual audits.Performs special projects and other duties as assigned by CFO and as needed.Supervisory responsibilities such as:Oversees the operations of the Accounting Department, which include accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and payroll.Oversees training programs and identifies training needs.QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Accounting, Business Administration, or Finance and ten (10) years of related accounting experience.Ability to apply knowledge of GAAP and work closely with the accounting team to apply GAAP.Ability to manage and train subordinates.Ability to work well with others.Ability to problem solve, analyze accounts, and provide written documentation of analysis and make independent decisions of significant impact or consequence.Ability to manage projects and communicate project status and issues to CFO in a timely manner.Ability to work in an environment with diverse individuals and groups.Ability to research rules and laws relevant to the work and analyze impact on the organization.Ability to work independently in a team environment.Ability to prepare detailed analysis with ad-hoc requests, with a minimum of supervision.Skill in organization and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, shifting priorities and meet changing deadlines.Ability to analyze, organize, and interpret data from various sources accurately, draw logical conclusions and make appropriate recommendations.Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment.Excellent management and supervisory skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Excellent organizational and time management skills.Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, speak clearly, hear and use hands and fingers to manipulate writing utensils and keys on a keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or lift and/or move maximum of 20 lbs. Salary: $80,000 – 90,000 / DOE

Our plans cover 85% of medical, dental, and vision costs at the employee level and 75% for all dependent plans. The majority of out-of-pocket costs (i.e. co-pays, prescriptions, and deductibles) under our medical plans are also covered. We also offer other benefits, such as: employer paid Short Term Disability, Long Term Disability, Life Insurance, and supplemental coverage.
Our full-time employees and some part-time employees also qualify for our 401(K) plan that matches dollar for dollar up to 5%. On top of all that, our full-time employees receive approximately 4 weeks of paid time off during their first year of employment (accrual rates increase with years of service), as well as 1 personal holiday and 12 paid holidays per year!
