The Controller at Kentucky Trailer Group plays a critical role in managing financial operations, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and driving strategic financial decisions through 3 business segments with overall financial control of $250M+ business. This position will be responsible for financial reporting, financial management/cost control, financial planning and analysis, financial plans & policies, and financial analysis support.

The Controller will also report on metrics to optimize our growth by understanding where efficiencies exist to maximize scalability throughout the year. This role will be a business partner directly with the Kentucky Trailer President to ensure our operations remain on track to hit our financial and strategic objectives and key results while also having a dotted line to the Platform Controller to ensure compliance.

This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate the complexities of the manufacturing industry while driving financial performance and supporting organizational growth.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting: Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and accounting standards. Assist in preparing analysis, commentary, and presentation material for the monthly and quarterly financial review meetings with leadership.

Team Leadership: Build and develop a high-performing finance team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to direct reports. Ability to communicate up and down in the organization.

Financial Strategy: Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the company’s overall objectives and long-term growth plans.

Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the budgeting process and provide accurate financial forecasts to support decision-making across the organization.

Risk Management: Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Implement internal controls to safeguard company assets and optimize financial performance.

Financial Planning and Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to evaluate business performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive operational efficiencies.

Financial Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, financial laws, and reporting requirements. Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors as necessary.

Strategic Partnerships: Collaborate with executive leadership to evaluate strategic partnerships, mergers, and acquisitions. Conduct financial due diligence and support negotiation efforts.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field. MBA preferred. Proven experience (8+ years) in financial management, preferably within the manufacturing industry. Strong knowledge of financial principles, accounting practices, and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated leadership abilities with a track record of driving results and managing cross-functional teams. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate insights effectively. Strategic mindset with the ability to think creatively and make sound business decisions. Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting techniques, and financial software applications. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
