About you:
The Accounting Controller will oversee and manage all accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient operations of the accounting department in a growing organization. This individual will be responsible for leading the accounting department, implementing and maintaining accounting policies, and providing strategic insights on financial performance of the business as a whole. The ideal candidate should possess a deep understanding of financial management, accounting principles, and reporting standards, along with strong leadership and organizational skills.
Responsibilities for the Controller:
+ Serve as a strategic thought partner, developing financial infrastructure to support sustained growth and informed decision-making.
+ Build, analyze, and maintain detailed financial reports to support short and long-term strategic planning, including key performance indicators, business activity reports, and financial statements.
+ Conduct ongoing analysis of key business drivers, trends, and performance indicators, and present findings in a clear, easy-to-understand format for management.
+ Oversee the preparation and reporting of monthly financial results, including identifying trends, issues, and areas for improvement.
+ Support management in the development of financial analysis to guide strategic business decisions, including sales pipeline analysis, job costing, client profitability, and capacity planning.
+ Oversee the invoicing process for contract projects, Time and Materials projects, service work, and recurring revenue contracts, ensuring timely billing and collections.
+ Manage the job costing process, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in cost allocation and tracking.
+ Ensure compliance with financial and HR-related processes, including payroll, taxes, and documentation of HR records, while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to legal standards.
+ Manages the monthly closing process, including preparing and approving journal entries, verifying the correct coding of revenues and expenses, and reconciling all balance sheet accounts to external sources.
+ Collaborate with external agencies for tax planning, preparation, and reporting, ensuring accurate and timely income tax reporting.
+ Manage relationships with insurance agents, banking partners, and external accounting professionals, optimizing financial and insurance arrangements in line with company goals.
+ Supervise the HR, AR/AP, payroll, and cash management functions, ensuring effective and streamlined accounting procedures.
+ Lead and guide the accounting team, setting priorities, establishing objectives, and providing feedback to promote efficiency and growth.
+ Oversee and manage office admin staff, providing direction, task delegation, and support to drive team productivity and efficiency.
+ Shape company culture by upholding core values, particularly ethics and integrity, and supporting a positive, compliant work environment.
+ Member of the Executive Leadership team responsible for establishing the company's vision, mission, and strategy and guiding the organization to reach those goals.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
+ 8+ years of professional experience as a controller responsible for accounting and financial reporting.
+ Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and GAAP.
+ History of successfully implementing/integrating systems, policies, and protocols.
+ Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet tight deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
+ Solid organizational, time management and collaboration skills with a talent for building relationships.
