PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Controller will primarily ensure compliance with US GAAP, German GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, financial policies and control standards, resulting in proper reporting and recording of accounting transactions while leading the analysis of operational results to identify performance gaps against planned results and strategies to improve. The position impacts policy deployment objectives directly by driving working capital improvements, cost reduction, and ensuring successful integration of systems and reporting of any acquired companies. The Controller is responsible for reporting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually information to Fortive Corporate, including annual book and tax basis reconciliations. This is a hybrid position based out of Spartanburg, SC.

Essential Functions

Coordinates timely consolidated monthly financial closings. Responsible for month end and year end closing process and journal entries, account reconciliations, revenue recognition and other analyses. Preparation of the monthly consolidated financial package including P&L analysis, balance sheet information, and reports for the US parent and related subsidiaries. Determine and analyze monthly results - Provide operating information to functional managers and proactively work with them to translate financial results into an understanding of the underlying drivers. Improve financial performance - Establish projects to improve operations based on monthly results. Improve processes and procedures - Speed up the closing process, reduce the number of journal entries required, and provide cost information to functional users. Control company assets - Manage balance sheet items, conduct periodic inventories and audits. Ensure the integrity of accounting data/forecasts - Submit daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports which properly reflect the financial condition of Anderson-Negele. Create and develop new systems, controls, data, etc., to ensure the accuracy of accounting data and improve P/L and balance sheet performance. Provide proper management controls over department budgets, trend analysis, countermeasure identification, and proactive guidance to management to help them achieve company goals.

Qualification And Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance, with a minimum of 7 years of progressive professional accounting/finance experience including at least 3 years in a manufacturing environment. Global experience is preferred. Minimum 2 years in a management or supervisory position. Strong understanding of SOX accounting principles. Exceptional analytical and financial analysis skills with passion for details and 'digging in. Exceptional communication skills with ability to present analysis and findings in both verbal and written formats to all levels of management and size of audience. Skilled at analysis of financial information and interpretation into useful information communicated to non-financial personnel. A self-starter and independent thinker who has the desire to work in a fast-paced organization. Ability to develop creative solutions to problems and work towards continuous improvement. Ability to organize and work with large amounts of complex information, managing multiple project priorities
