Job Description
As a member of a highly motivated, dynamic, multi-disciplined team, you will design and develop world-class automation solutions. Duties involve contributing to machine concepts, designing control software, integrating software with electrical and mechanical systems, process development, and machine installation at customer sites worldwide. Programming and integration assignments involve leading-edge technologies and processes utilizing PLCs, PCs, robotics, motion controllers, vision systems, lasers, and other controllers.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop software programs (PLC and/or PC based) specific to customer and project requirements.Commission control systems at our facility, during the system integration stage, and at the customer’s site during installation.Travel as required to customer and supplier sites to perform installation, commissioning, and training duties.Select, test, and integrate hardware and software components such as robots, analog devices, motion controllers, sensors, vision systems, and lasers.Collaborate with other members of the control systems design department and other groups to continuously improve methods of integrating controls technology, enhancing safety, functionality, and reducing costs.Ensure adherence to or improvement upon labor and material budgets as well as scheduled delivery dates.Work with customers, project managers, designers, toolmakers, and electricians to solve problems and provide complete, functional automation systems.Conduct thorough testing of machine functionality to verify software program completeness.Provide accurate documentation for each project.Advise customers on solving technical problems.Provide customer training specific to their current project, including machine operation, programming principles, and program structure.Responsibilities are subject to change based on individual abilities.Essential SkillsControl system designSystem integrationPLC programmingExperience with Allen-Bradley and ladder logicExperience with motion controllersExperience with vision systems, sensors, and lasersAbility to travel internationally (10-15% of the year)Additional Skills & QualificationsDeveloping control programs such as PLC, HMI, and Servo'sDebugging and testing machinesPLC programming from scratchCoding in ladder logicWork Environment
The work environment is a mix of working in an office and on a production floor. The dress code is business casual. The team size is up to 60+ engineers, divided into smaller teams of 2-6 people. Working hours are from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with a flexible start and finish. Expect 10-15 hours of overtime on some weeks, depending on the nature of the work.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $70.00/hr.
