This position is for an entry level machinery controls system engineer.  The main function of the candidate will be to provide troubleshooting, testing and lifecycle support of fielded Machinery Control Systems (MCS) on the USS ARLEIGH BURKE class of destroyer.  This includes shipboard support as well as Land Based Engineering Site (LBES) support. 

 

Lifecycle support of the supervisory machinery control system which includes, but is not limited to:

Troubleshooting complex problems of all variants of fielded systems (microprocessor based control systems) both at LBES and shipboardReview of technical documentation related to all variants of fielded systems and future fielded systemsProvide test support for all variants of fielded systems at LBESProvide shipboard SW & HW installation support of all variants of fielded systems at LBESProvide technical input to the design of future MCS systemsDevelop test procedures to exercise requirements of fielded systems and future fielded systemsProvide design support for integration of equipment in an industrial/shipboard environment Required Qualifications

Bachelors Degree and 0 to 3 years experience or a HS Diploma and 9+ years of professional experience in a technical field.

Prior Navy shipboard experience and training, specifically for electrical-based systems, preferred.Prior experience with industrial control systems a plus (PLCs, etc.).Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation such as drawings, diagrams, technical manuals, and procedures.Ability to perform technical work with minimal oversight required.Successful applicants must be a US Citizen with active government security clearance (DoD Secret) or the ability to obtain a clearance. Must have a valid US passport or the ability to obtain one upon position acceptance.

 

Physical Requirements include the ability to:

Lift and carry (with assistance) up to 50 poundsAccess and maintain equipment located in confined spacesAscend/descend ramps/ladders/stairs and work comfortably at varying heightsReach overhead to handle, install, position and move materialsPerform routine maintenance tasks while crouching, stooping and kneelingWork in environments with temperature fluctuations, including both hot and cold conditionsSustain physical activity for extended periods, as well as maintaining balanceSee details at close range, at a distance and from side to sideDetect alarms and respond to auditory signals effectively is requirement Desired Qualifications Experience tracing signals and troubleshooting, diagnosing and isolating cause for electrical failures and anomaliesProficiency in reading electrical diagramsProficiency in the use of test tools associated with test and troubleshooting electrical systemsProficiency in the use of diagnostic tools associated with control system troubleshooting (i.e. multimeter, oscilloscope, signal generator, etc)Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suite of applicationsProficient in basic computer/laptop use including advanced operationsBasic knowledge of network troubleshooting toolsBasic technical writing abilityAbility to self-motivate and complete tasks efficientlyAbility to communicate effectively within an integrated team environment including ability to liaise confidently and professionally with a diverse range of peopleExcellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.
