Contracts Analyst (Mid - Level)

ERM seeks an experienced Contracts Analyst for the U.S./Canada region to serve as a key member of ERM’s global Legal Department team.  The ERM Legal Department provides legal support for ERM’s management and operations globally (over 140 offices in 39 countries). The General Counsel, located in London, UK, leads the entire global Legal Department, which in addition to the US/Canada team has members supporting Latin America, Europe/Africa, and Asia Pacific.

This Contracts Analyst position would ideally be based in Austin, Texas, but other locations would be considered depending on experience.  This position will support ERM and the Legal Department in carrying out the mission of reducing risk, improving decision-making, and enhancing client relations by world-class management of contracts and related information. This position will have an important role in optimizing ERM’s performance on major contract delivery. This position will report to the Regional Managing Counsel for the U.S./Canada and will be supervised by the Senior Contracts Analyst for U.S./Canada, with additional supervision and interaction with other commercial attorneys in ERM’s global Legal Department.  Limited travel may be required.

Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Areas

Tracking contract obligations and compliance statusRecording and managing key information about contractsCollecting and filing contracts and related documentsAdvising so reviews and approvals can be carried out in accordance with ERM’s policies and proceduresDrafting and reviewing certain contract typesSupporting the connection between ERM business people and the Legal Department, to maintain a client focused approachNegotiating issues with guidance from ERM attorneysProviding information to ERM business representatives and attorneys about contracts.

The types of contracts and documents will include:

Client contracts including master service agreements. These consist of modifications to ERM standard terms as well as client forms of agreement.Requests for proposals (RFPs)Subcontracts and other supplier contractsTeaming agreementsConfidentiality agreements/non-disclosure agreements (NDAs)Amendments and change ordersA variety of other miscellaneous commercial documents.

Qualifications

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a contract manager/analyst/administrator, handling complex client/customer contracts, supplier contracts including subcontracts and other contracts such as teaming/partnering agreements and NDAsBachelor’s degree, preferably in a business or technical discipline, or other relevant experienceEager to learn and take on responsibilityValues the opportunity to promote ERM’s interestsAbility to recognize issues and the commitment to follow through to see that they are resolvedWell-organizedAbility to make thoughtful and disciplined decisionsCreative problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication, including a strong phone and video conference presenceGood imagination and ability to see things from someone else’s perspectiveAbility to work collaboratively with attorneys and other Legal Department members, Partners, Project Analysts and staffProfessional demeanor and sensitivity to client relationshipsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a high paced environmentWorking understanding of key commercial contract and risk management conceptsBasic understanding of business entities and corporate/organizational structure concepts

Core Competencies

Experience handling a service provider’s contracts with larger corporate clientsExperience helping business teams understand and mitigate certain risks associated with various contract termsGood understanding of environmental consulting business and construction projectsExperience with MS office suite programs (word, excel, PowerPoint, etc.); experience with contract management applications a plus
