The Continuous Improvement Specialist position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
· Carries out process improvement, problem resolution, project management and employee training
· Improves manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency
· Prepares and presents plans for the above and coordinate deployment including training of team members
· Assists Operations in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training
· Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow, assembly methods and production equipment
· Designs, builds and /or sources and cost justifies, fixtures, racks and carts to improve production efficiency and safety
· Designs, develops, and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery, and equipment for recommended methods
· Performs product/process analysis of production for cost reduction, quality improvement, and improved efficiency
· Assist in the day-to-day resolution of problems arising on the production floor
· Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
· Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering a plus
· Lean manufacturing experience preferred
· Certification in MIG and TIG welding strongly preferred
· Good metal fabrication skill and experience
· Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within assembly line and/or fabrication environments
· Results-oriented and self-driven
· Strong leadership and training abilities
· Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
· Proficient with Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and AutoCAD/SolidWorks
