Continuous Improvement Intern
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The Continuous Improvement Intern will play a key role in enhancing manufacturing processes through the application of Lean methodologies. The intern will focus on analyzing current workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and implementing improvements to boost productivity. This role provides hands-on experience on the plant floor and exposure to cross-functional collaboration within the manufacturing environment.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:
Assignment Objectives: Conduct time studies for assembly lines and other manufacturing processes. Develop standardized work procedures for assembly lines. Identify waste within manufacturing processes and contribute to problem-solving initiatives. Actively participate in structured Kaizen events. Key Training Objectives: Learn and apply Lean tools and concepts effectively. Build communication skills to engage with team members across various organizational levels. Develop leadership abilities by managing projects and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Gain experience in overseeing cross-functional projects from initiation to completion. Measurable Impact Potential: Increase assembly productivity by eliminating waste and implementing standardized work procedures.

Required Experience
Strong time management and organizational skills. Proficiency in project management and multitasking. Strong problem-solving capabilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with Project Management, Lean Manufacturing, and Process Management.
Education & Certifications
Currently pursuing an Engineering degree (preferred focus on process or industrial engineering).
Travel & Working Environment
70% of the time will be spent on the plant floor, with additional time allocated to computer-based work. No travel required The intern will report to the Plant CI Manager, Kyle Morrison, and receive mentorship from Evelyn Willis, Continuous Improvement Manager. Collaborative supervision will ensure the intern gains valuable experience while meeting project objectives.
