We are hiring a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Yerkes site team located in Buffalo, NY
This position will be the continuous improvement engineer supporting the Tedlar® Treating and Finishing Areas. The individual will be responsible for developing and executing engineering solutions to continuously improve process capability in the areas of safety, productivity, reliability, and quality.
The Yerkes site in Buffalo, NY is one of two manufacturing locations of the production of Tedlar® polyvinyl fluoride film produced by the Photovoltaic and Advanced Materials business unit in the DuPont Company. Tedlar® film is used in a wide variety of applications serving global Industrial and Photovoltaic markets. The Tedlar® facilities at Yerkes consist of polymerization units, film casting and numerous converting operations such as surface treatment and roll slitting. The Yerkes site currently manufactures Tedlar® film and Corian® solid surfaces.
This is a Onsite position. Some off-hours work and limited travel will be required. The plant operates on a 24/7 schedule.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Technology Development and Implementation.Responsible for process innovation, implementation of new technology.Owner of 5-year improvement plan and execution.Execute/lead larger complex projects (mid to long term horizon).Sets strategic directions for technology (act as tech guardian). Leads significant process optimization programs. Leads Product specification optimization. Leads SPC program implementation. 6 sigma CI improvement leader (GB or BB preferred). Develop tech packages for capital projects.Develops scale up risk assessment and execution plan. Leads quality investigations. Leads raw material quality improvement. PSM Element Leadership: (PT, PHA, MOCt). RCI lead - for major process deviations, upsets.MOC-technology approver.Qualifications:
B.S. in Engineering from an ABET Accredited Program.5-7 years’ experience in chemical/process manufacturing areas.Strong technical, analytical, and functional skills.Demonstrated problem solving/analytical ability.Experience and knowledge in the manufacture of oriented film- extrusion, conveyance, and distillation.Demonstrated expertise in the application of film processing and handling equipment including extrusion, transport rolls, clutches, winders, tension control, web surface treaters, vision systems, roll slitters.Demonstrated knowledge of chemical processes and methodologies applicable to a manufacturing settingDemonstrated experience and knowledge of chemical manufacturing unit operations.Proven ability to drive timely and highly effective results while positively influencing others.Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot chemical processes.Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects.Ability to positively influence others through high personal standards and operating discipline.Demonstrated ability to manage and lead both strategic long-term programs/projects as well as address short-term operational issues.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence leadership, peers, and mechanics; able to take a "hands-on" approach with operators and mechanics to drive change and get results.Desire to work in a fast paced, customer focused environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks and a high-volume workload with shifting and competing priorities. Experience with Process Safety Management.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Good interpersonal and communication skills must work well in both self-managed and team environments.Experience with vision inspection systems preferred.

The Pay range for this role is $75,600.00 - $118,800.00 Annual
