We are the Database Performance team specializing in data warehousing performance including, In-Memory Databases, Big Data SQL, Iceberg and AI Vector Search running on high end engineered systems like the Oracle Exadata and Exascale.  This group works as part of development to ensure that the Oracle Database and Engineered Systems provide the highest performance both in industry standard benchmarks and in real customer use cases. The performance group is heavily involved in the R&D phase of new development projects. We are involved at all levels of the product cycle from early feasibility studies, research into performance benefits of advanced technologies, performance testing of prototypes as well as performance QA during the development cycle right through to daily regressions on released products. The scope of the job is very broad. We specialize in performance at all levels of the Oracle stack from the HW level right up to the application in some cases. Projects typically last 3 to 6 months. A typical developer will have an in-depth knowledge within their specialized area and the code they own but will have very limited visibility of the big picture. Our work is broader across different layers of the product, and this keeps the job very interesting.
