The Development Services Department (DSD) assists homeowners, business owners, and contractors when they build, demolish, remodel or perform any type of construction to ensure compliance with applicable city and building codes.
Position Overview:
DSD is seeking a Licensed Professional Engineer in the field of Civil or Structural Engineering to provide direct and comprehensive plan review services for the Journey with AUS expansion projects planned for Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA). This position will provide the necessary leadership and project management services for the planned expansion projects. Duties for the position include managing of a team of up to 8 plans examiners and providing technical guidance to the aviation project management team, program management, and budgeting. This position is also expected to review and comment on proposed rule adoptions or code amendments, assist with developing procedures to administer codes/ordinances and assist internal employees and the public with the integration of regulations, processes and procedures. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills are needed for this position to successfully perform daily interactions with the public, construction professionals, stakeholders, and internal employees.
This position will physically report to the ABIA administrative offices.

Negotiates problems of changes, errors, or deficiencies and ensures compliance with project specifications and requirements. Monitors projects for regulatory compliance by providing consultation and determinations in matters involving application and interpretation of regulations and policies.
