Classification Title: Construction Project Mgr. I Job Description:

Construction Project Management - The position assists in overseeing the design and construction of campus utility infrastructure-based projects. Responsibilities include assisting development of project scopes; coordination of design; preparation of cost estimates and schedules for the identified projects; management of construction activities such as road/bike path/sidewalk closures, coordination of utility outages, project financial management, and warranty/close out adherence; and coordination of deferred maintenance projects. Work also includes maintaining department infrastructure files; coordinating meetings between users and consultants; reviewing contractor pay requests; reviewing change orders; attending regularly scheduled construction meetings; and monitoring and reporting on progress of all projects assigned to PM1.

Project Planning and Development - The position assists with coordination of tasks with plant managers, Utilities and Energy Staff, FS Engineering Team, and outside university departments to develop and oversee feasibility studies for future and planned projects. This work shall include coordinating Utility Impact Analyses, planning for future operational issues, coordinating and prioritizing future construction, renovation, and repair work; collecting and analyzing data as required; and reviewing and developing deferred maintenance projects. Assists the university and department groups in resolving specific utility infrastructure and construction issues.

FS Project Management Process Development - The PM1 shall assist end-users, plant/utility managers, vendors, contractors, and other university departments in reviewing and revising the various project management processes and facility standards to ensure continuous improvement of FS project delivery.

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. (40 hours per week).

Work hours and days may vary with assignments, workload, and scheduled construction activities.

May be on-call during adverse weather conditions, important utility outages or emergency infrastructure repair.

Expected Salary:

$70,000.00 to $80,000.00 Commensurate with education and experience

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, planning or building construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with University of Florida procurement and project management processes. Computer Skills in Microsoft Office Applications; Knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS, and other construction design software; Knowledge of Microsoft Project and construction scheduling software; Knowledge of construction process, techniques, and methods in underground utilities and plants.
