Dewberry is currently seeking a Construction Project Manager in our Fairfax, VA office. The Construction Project Manager will be responsible for project leadership for construction projects.  Construction projects will serve public, private and primarily Federal clients and will range in size from $1 million to $15 million in total project cost. These projects will primarily consist of existing facility retrofit and renovation projects intended to modernize a target facility through comprehensive MEP and controls upgrades, general construction tenant improvements, and site/civil upgrades.Up to 80% travel can be expected, as the majority of the time the position will need to be physically present at the site of construction.

 

Candidates that will be considered should have at least 10 years of experience in the field.  The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills and ability to oversee multi-trade projects in highly challenging occupied building environments.

Responsibilities The primary functions of the role will be project management, on site management/supervision, quality control and safety oversight, and pricing/estimating support for new opportunities and change orders.Provide pre-construction and construction expertise:Preconstruction activities such as estimating, procurement, teaming, contract negotiations, scheduling, submittal review and approval, and more.Construction activities such as procurement, field supervision, safety, QC, commissioning, and turnover including closeout documentation.Manage key project elements with limited supervision, coordinate subcontractors, direct work on site, coordinate with owner and facility staff, plan outages, develop daily and monthly reports,  manage risk and change during construction, interpret drawings and develop as-builts, and other related tasks in support of large construction programsCollaborate with other project team members as necessary, including project managers, field superintendents, construction coordinators, and others.Manage all project financial outcomes for which responsibility is given.Responsible for safety and quality control, following applicable OSHA and EM-385 requirements as well as Federal quality control program requirements and reporting.Oversee renovations and retrofit to buildings on projects that are up to $15 million in construction, including project planning through implementationSupervise and coordinate onsite personnel and subcontractors to ensure schedule complianceEffectively manage projects to minimize changes, delays and interference with end userInterface with project inspectors, architects, engineer’s clients and local officialsMaintain the standards and compliance with plans, specifications, and codesUpdate and maintain daily logs, project documents for revisions, change orders, ASI’s, etc.Develop Job Hazard Analysis forms, conduct weekly toolbox safety talks and ensure compliance with OSHA guidelinesMaintain a clean and safe jobsiteRespectful and effective written and verbal communication Required Skills & Required Experience Experience working in occupied facilities preferredExperience in leading construction team in a at risk environment (procurement, scheduling, field supervision, safety and commissioning, and turnover).Strong risk management skills in the areas of contract knowledge and construction processes and procedures.Ability to lead and direct work of others.Possess a wide degree of creativity and problem solving.Top Secret/SCI clearance is preferredExperience completing complex mechanical, electrical, and control projects preferredDevelop and update construction schedules (Microsoft Project or P6 experience preferred)OSHA 40 and First/Aid CPR Certificate with knowledge of EM-385 preferredExperience with Federal and USACE construction projectsKnowledge and use of Procore is preferredProficient knowledge and experience with Microsoft software including excel, project and word; as well as P6 scheduling tool preferred.

Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record, ability to pass a driving record background check, and ability to receive a security clearance.
