Job Description

We are urgently seeking Project Engineers for our growing teams in the Winchester, VA office. This role involves working with Project Managers and Superintendents to coordinate project activities, ensuring that goals or objectives are accomplished within prescribed time frames and funding parameters. Our projects focus on healthcare and school/university commercial construction.

ResponsibilitiesAssist project superintendent to resolve field problems and provide design information through the design professional.Review, coordinate, and verify that shop drawings conform with contract documents and oversee proper distribution of shop drawings from initial submission through final approval.Assemble data for and prepare change order requests, subcontract change orders, and contract change orders for Project Manager’s review and submission.Assist project manager and project superintendent in coordinating, expediting, and supervising subcontractor performance.Assist project manager and project superintendent with coordinating and expediting delivery of materials and equipment, including owner purchased equipment, to maintain the construction schedule.Assist with reviews and approval of subcontractors’ requests for progress payments and with preparation of applications for payment to owner.Assist in preparation of periodic costs reports.Ensure adequate supervision of quality control activities; provide suggestions and methods for corrective action of quality control discrepancies.Coordinate required attendance at job progress meetings, attend meetings, keep records and prepare minutes, and arrange for distribution to all project participants.Coordinate acquisition of and review records drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, performance tests, and required start-up data. Maintain record set of as-built drawings at site and office.Perform other duties as directed by the Project Manager, requiring flexibility.Prepare to assist engineers or surveyors with field layout activities and measurement.Ensure that project engineering activities comply with company and contract requirements and support overall construction schedule.Provide technical support for pre-construction and construction efforts including participation in construction planning and design; interpretation of design; application of construction methods; resolution and documentation of design conflicts; constructability reviews, schedule development, and cost determination.Represent the company, project, and/or department during meetings with the owner, design professionals, and other project participants when project manager is not available.Essential Skills2-4 years of experience as a Project Engineer working on vertical commercial construction projects.Experience with ground-up projects valued at $20 million+.Comfortable reading blueprints, handling RFIs, and handling submittals.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in healthcare and school/university commercial construction projects is a plus.Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.Ability to work effectively with a diverse team.Work Environment

This position will primarily be based in the office, five days per week, with occasional visits to the job site as needed. The Project Engineer will work directly with a Project Manager and Superintendent. This is an incredible opportunity to grow into an Assistant Project Manager and ultimately a Project Manager role within a well-established and reputable company.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $43.27
