Construction Material Technician
Job Description

Seeking a Construction Field Technician to perform testing and inspection services for private, state, county, ODOT and other projects. Responsible for performing on-site testing of concrete, soil, aggregates, asphalt, steel, and more to ensure they meet project specifications. Document test results and field activities daily and communicate directly with owners' representatives, project managers, contractors, and other on-site personnel. Local travel to job sites and occasional overtime/weekend work is required.

ResponsibilitiesConduct quality control testing at project sites, including concrete, soils, masonry, asphalt, aggregate, and reinforcing steel.Perform construction administration and inspection services for state, county, and local roadway and bridge projects, as well as municipal utility or infrastructure projects.Inspect construction projects to ensure contractor compliance with state specifications, plans, and/or proposals.Verify plan quantities and calculations with as-bid plans, prepare and maintain project records and reports, and perform other duties as assigned by the Project Engineer.Notify the Contractor or the Project Engineer with status updates or about non-conforming work.Prepare and maintain project records and reports in a timely manner.Essential SkillsPrior construction experience is strongly preferred (general labor, concrete, earthworks, etc.)Candidates with a degree but no prior experience will be considered (i.e., engineering, construction, geology, earth science)High school diploma requiredValid driver’s license requiredAbility to work overtime including weekends as necessaryMust be comfortable working outdoors year-round on construction sitesAdditional Skills & QualificationsPrior construction material testing/inspection experienceACI, Nuclear Gauge, NICET, NETTCP certificationsWork Environment

100% in the field on construction sites. Must be comfortable on job sites and be able to work in various weather conditions year-round. The company is 100% employee-owned, offering opportunities for stake in the firm. Training and necessary certifications (ACI, Nuclear Gauge, NICET, NETTCP) will be provided.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00
