The COMSEC Specialist and Security Assessment Planner is responsible for ensuring the security and integrity of communication systems through the implementation and management of communication security (COMSEC) controls, protocols, encryption, and key management. This role involves working closely with IT and security teams to safeguard sensitive information and prevent unauthorized access. Additionally, the role includes planning and executing security assessments to evaluate and enhance the organization's security posture.
_Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a United States Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Public Trust clearance._
Rate: $50 - $60 / hr. w2
**Responsibilities:**
+ Implement and manage COMSEC controls and protocols.
+ Develop and maintain encryption and key management systems.
+ Conduct regular audits and assessments of communication security measures.
+ Collaborate with IT and security teams to integrate COMSEC solutions.
+ Provide training and guidance on COMSEC policies and procedures.
+ Stay updated on the latest COMSEC technologies and threats.
+ Create and manage the Security Assessment Plan (SAP) to document the assessment schedule, tools, and personnel.
+ Obtain approval for the assessment approach and scope.
+ Develop a Rules of Engagement (ROE) document, including vulnerability scanning and penetration testing procedures.
+ Document assessment findings in the Security Assessment Report (SAR).
+ Execute the following subtasks:
+ **Subtask 1 - Assessment Preparation:** Prepare for the security assessment by defining objectives, scope, and methodology.
+ **Subtask 2 - Security Control Assessment:** Conduct assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of security controls.
+ **Subtask 3 - SAR:** Compile and document the findings in a comprehensive Security Assessment Report.
+ **Subtask 4 - Remediation Actions:** Recommend and oversee remediation actions based on assessment findings.
**Experience Requirements:**
+ Expertise in communication security controls, protocols, encryption, and key management.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
+ Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
+ Proficiency in planning and conducting security assessments.
+ 5 years of experience in communication security and/or security assessment roles.
**Education Requirements:**
**Preferred Education/Certification(s):**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
+ Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
+ Project Management Professional (PMP).
This combined role requires a proactive individual who can effectively manage communication security while also planning and executing comprehensive security assessments to ensure the organization's information security is robust and resilient.
_Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range._
