Computational Materials Engineer

As part of the Computational Materials Engineering (CME) team, you will contribute to CoorsTek's global mission – to explore and optimize materials for our customers – by helping design, build, and deploy data pipelines that fuel materials informatics. This effort involves enhancing our data foundation and expanding our analytics capabilities. The role demands collaboration, critical thinking, and strong technical skills.

Act as a key member of the CME team working to expand materials informatics capabilities.
Work closely with CoorsTek Scientists and Engineers to learn context behind CoorsTek materials and processes.
Work collaboratively with CoorsTek Technology groups to expand our materials informatics capabilities, both globally and outside of the Technology environment:

Develop, extract, transform, load (ETL) pipelines that curate scientific data to enable materials informatics.Deliver exploratory data analyses to tell compelling data stories.Collaborate with Technology functions to identify connection points & applications for future data utilization.

Job Requirements:

Education:

Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a Materials Science, Computer Science, or related STEM field with two or more years relevant experience.

Experience:

Hands-on experience in data engineering with some data science exposure, preferably in a commercial or industrial environment within the materials science field.

Functional/Technical Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Experience with query, object-oriented, and/or scripting languages (Python and SQL preferred).Experience with version control and contributing to an existing codebase.Experience developing and maintaining ETL pipelines.Experience architecting and deploying data science solutions.Must demonstrate a creative, organized, detail-oriented approach to problem solving.Must be self-motivated and demonstrate initiative in a highly dynamic, evolving environment.Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.Able to work in a highly collaborative enterprise.Able to work with a diverse group of people from different cultures and educational backgrounds.

Position Specific Physical Requirements:

Required to always wear appropriate personal protective equipment in designated areas.

Target Hiring Range

Annual Salary: USD 89,300.00 - USD 117,800.00
