Role Summary

The Global Regulatory Affairs Office (GRAO) is responsible for overseeing the enhancement of our risk management and controls, remediation of regulatory and audit findings and the administration of regulatory affairs, including establishing a centralized and sustainable connection point for global regulatory communications, ensuring preparedness for examinations.

This Compliance Risk Manager role sits within the GRAO with primary responsibility for providing subject matter expertise across a multi-year regulatory and risk program and driving development and implementation of Risk Assessments, Metrics and Reporting necessary to execute GRAO strategy. This role will report into the Regulatory Risk Specialist, who sits within the Compliance Program team.

The ideal candidate will have strong reporting and metrics development and data analytics skills supported by data and technology alongside a track record of leading a small team. They will be tasked with implementing compliance risk assessment framework, developing and implementing compliance risk metrics, reporting and other strategies to optimise the use of compliance risk insight to drive key business decisions.

Principal Responsibilities

The key responsibilities of the role include:

Responsible for supporting definition, execution and embeddedness of the Compliance Risk Assessment, Metric and Reporting workstreams.

Responsible for design and delivery of the necessary metrics, reports and supporting operating models to enable the effective running and management of the future state.

Working with data and technology partners to develop and implement capabilities to enable data collection, interpretation, trend and patterns identification and analysis, and effective reporting of the compliance and legal risk.

Collaborating with stakeholders across all lines of defence, multiple business units, and senior management to create effective and sustainable technology and data led solutions for managing compliance and legal risk.

Lead preparation for the Working Groups in support of effective design, and implementation efforts. Promoting collaboration, consistency, forward-looking and continuous improvement approach and driving alignment to industry best practice.

Develop materials and visual aids to help present complex ideas in the most effective way to drive design discussion, and then implementation.

Control deadlines, and activities within their remit. Proactively anticipate any dependencies, roadblocks, potential risks or issues and work to prevent them/or define pragmatic contingency plans.

Timely escalate and relentlessly pursue resolution of any roadblocks with a clear, end-to-end ownership mindset.

Effectively share information, ensuring collaboration and joint approach to help drive One Northern Strategy i.e. enhance risk management and controls, operational excellence and use of data and technology.

Help shape best practices, standards and toolkit and strengthen our capabilities around compliance and legal risk.

ensure effective partnership with the Global Compliance Framework team.

Required Skills / Experience

Understanding of regulatory, compliance and risk related matters.

Demonstrated experience in developing risk metrics, reports and dashboards, including using a wide range of risk intel to provide holistic and complete risk position.

Demonstrated experience in providing strategic business insight, using metrics and data to aid business decisions. This includes use of data and tools to identify trends and development of ad-hoc dashboards / reports to present this information.

Knowledge of the financial services industry, especially asset servicing, wealth management and banking, and the regulatory environment in which they operate including regulatory themes emerging within industry.

Forward looking and continuous improvement mindset.

Strong problem-solving skills, organizational skills and time management skills.

Great skills across communication, facilitation, interpersonal, conflict resolution, team building, coaching members on practices, framework, ability to teach/train etc.

Ability to establish trust-based relationships with stakeholders across enterprise, lead them towards common objectives and managing upwards and downwards (e.g., experience with acting as a constructive conduit between business and non-business teams​).

Comfortable taking the initiative but also capable of recognizing complex problems and comfortable bringing questions to management.

Demonstrated ability to build effective and lasting partnerships across organisation, in support of better decision making and ensure we are constantly managing the risk.

Drafting – strong PowerPoint and reports drafting skills, with demonstrated ability to present information and messaging with external audience in mind.
