Job DescriptionUltra Precision Control Systems (PCS) are looking for a Compliance Quality Engineer to join the Quality Function. The Quality Compliance Engineer ensures that all products and processes meet rigorous aerospace and defense industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role is essential in maintaining compliance with CAA Part 21J & G, CAA & EASA Part 145, AS9100, ISO 9001, and other quality management standards. By conducting audits, managing corrective actions, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, the Quality Compliance Engineer safeguards product integrity, supports customer satisfaction, and enhances overall operational efficiency. This position plays a critical role in upholding our commitment to quality, safety, and compliance within the aerospace and defense sector.The Quality Compliance Engineer will ensure adherence to industry and regulatory standards within our aerospace and defense manufacturing processes. This role is critical in maintaining product and process integrity, meeting all compliance requirements, and driving continuous improvement to enhance product quality and performance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting audits, managing corrective actions, and providing guidance on regulatory and customer requirements, with a focus on CAA Part 21J & G, CAA & EASA Part 145, AS9100 & ISO 9001 standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all processes, products, and services comply with applicable aerospace and defense regulations and ensuring they are flown down into the supply chain. Audits: Conduct internal and support supplier audits to assess compliance with regulatory standards, QMS, identifying non-conformances, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement corrective actions. Continuous Improvement: Lead quality improvement projects, utilizing root cause analysis and lean methodologies to enhance product reliability and reduce defects. Documentation & Reporting: Manage and maintain all quality documentation, including inspection records, audit reports, and compliance certifications. Regularly report on key performance indicators related to quality compliance. Maintain integrity of BMS though process review and configuration control of all hosted processes. Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure quality requirements are met and drive improvements in the supply chain. Customer Interface: Work directly with customers and regulatory agencies to address quality concerns, compliance issues, and audits. Take customer regulatory requirements and ensuring appropriate flow down to internal departments full implementation including to our supply chain.Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
Quality Management Standards: Strong understanding of CAA & EASA Part 145, CAA Part 21J and G, AS9100, ISO 9001, and other relevant industry standards for aerospace and defense. Regulatory Requirements: Familiarity with aerospace and defense regulatory requirements (e.g., ITAR, DFARS, FAA regulations), and an understanding of military specifications. Auditing Principles: Knowledge of internal and external auditing practices, including risk-based thinking and root cause analysis. Manufacturing Processes: Understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and materials, including machining, assembly, and testing procedures. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills to identify quality trends, conduct root cause analyses, and make data-driven recommendations. Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail for reviewing technical documents, conducting inspections, and verifying compliance. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with teams, reporting to management, and interfacing with customers and auditors. Problem-Solving: Proficient in problem-solving techniques, including the 8D, 5 Whys, and fishbone diagrams. Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, including quality improvement initiatives, audits, and corrective actions. Quality Engineering Background: 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, compliance, or a related role in the aerospace, defense, or manufacturing sector. Auditing Experience: Experience as a lead or internal auditor, ideally with AS9100 or ISO 9001 auditing certifications. Supplier Quality: Experience managing supplier quality, conducting supplier audits, and driving improvements within the supply chain. Process Improvement: Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean) to improve quality and efficiency. ERP Systems: Experience with ERP for tracking quality metrics, non-conformance reports, and corrective actions. Nationality RequirementsCandidates must be able to work in the UK without restrictions in accordance with UK National Law and be prepared to successfully undertake an appropriate level of UK National Security Vetting according to UK Government National Security Vetting criteria.
