GENERAL FUNCTIONS:  Supports Directors, Managers, and Supervisors with their environmental compliance responsibilities as they manage all aspects of drinking water and wastewater operations.  Responsible for the tracking and implementation of compliance initiatives and programs that ensure compliance with the Safe Drinking Water Act, Clean Water Act, and other environmental regulatory requirements.  Serve as Industrial Pretreatment Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Track compliance with drinking water and wastewater requirements and assist the Operations Managers to implement programs and initiatives that help to achieve company targets and goals.

Perform facility audits to identify needed improvements to maintain compliance and improve operations.  Meet with Managers and Supervisors to review the findings and create a schedule to address items in need of improvement.

Ensure internal compliance obligations are met and the compliance task tracking software is being utilizing appropriately and consistently.  Prepare and perform training to assist operations as needed.

Review permits and assist operations to develop policies, procedures, and training to ensure compliance with the conditions of the permits.

Advise and assist engineering and operations department during various stages of project planning and design to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Assists with compliance reporting efforts associated with water, wastewater, waste, air, tanks, etc.

Identifies gaps in documentation or potential areas of non-compliance and recommend solutions.

Develop SOPs and perform regulatory training to various company departments.

Draft PN notices, advise operations of compliance responsibilities, and track regulatory deadlines.

Reviews and analyzes new and proposed environmental regulations and define potential impact to State operations.

Leads in the development of various types of plans including emergency response, drought contingency, hazardous algal bloom plans, etc. as various needs may arise.

Supports sampling plan development and revision, waiver/reduced monitoring requests, and sample scheduling as needed.

Participates in various professional organizations; attend seminars and training courses when necessary to maintain technical competency.

Responsible for adherence to all Aqua safety and health policies and procedures.

SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL OR REGISTRATION QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree required. Study in environmental science, chemistry, water resources, biology, or a related field is preferred.2 years of experience in water/wastewater related environmental compliance preferredKnowledge or experience in the operations of water and wastewater treatment operations preferredExperience working with databases and computerized data management systems.Must have good computer skills including competency with MS Office Suite, with ability to learn SAP, LIMS, WIMS and other relevant software programs.Demonstrates strong organization, verbal, and written communication skills.
