What you’ll be doing

In support of CIBC’s core purpose: to make our clients’ ambitions a reality, Risk Management is accountable for the independent oversight of risk management inherent to CIBC’s transactions and activities. These risks include but are not limited to ensuring effective processes are in place for the identification, management, measurement, monitoring and control of operational, reputation and legal, strategic, market, credit, investment and liquidity risk, collectively “CIBC Risk”, incurred by CIBC’s businesses, functional and corporate governance groups.

The Compliance Department provides timely and proactive advice and independent oversight of CIBC’s compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. Together with the businesses, the Compliance Department works to manage and mitigate regulatory risk.

The Training and Methodology Analyst will be part of the Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) Programs team within Enterprise-Wide Compliance (EWC) working with the Training and Methodology Lead and reporting to the Director, RCM Programs.

The role's objective is to support the  enterprise-wide RCM policy and procedure development including manuals and supplementary guidance, RCM process design, RCM methodologies advisory to 1st and 2nd Lines, and stakeholder consultation, training and outreach.

To help develop, maintain and enhance the RCM Program, the Methodology and Training analyst will proactively support monitoring the efficacy of the RCM Program (e.g., methodologies, processes, roles/responsibilities) to align with regulatory expectations such as OFSI E-13, industry leading practices and CIBC’s Risk Management strategy. The Methodology and Training Analyst will work with the Methodology and Training Lead to independently design and make improvements to the RCM Program but will be expected to be collaborative and effectively communicate with peers in Compliance and Risk Management to articulate the RCM Program requirements.

How you will succeed:

Regulatory Oversight – You will support the analysis of new and pending laws, regulations and industry commitments that affect areas of responsibility ensuring that relevant issues and organizational risks are identified and raised for consideration by management in formulation and revision of policies and procedures for regulatory compliance. You will also provide advice, recommendations and assistance in developing policies, procedures, training, and communications to ensure compliance.

Methodology Design – Passion for designing and/or enhancing RCM methodologies to enable effective compliance risk management

Effective Communication – Strong written and verbal communication, with an aptitude to articulate RCM concepts clearly and succinctly

Change Management Mindset – Proactively managing the impact of change to people, process and technology through effective communication and training

Who you are

RCM Program Design and Governance - You can demonstrate experience in and have RCM Program Design and Governance with relevant risk or regulatory compliance policy and governance experience to design policies and procedures for the RCM Program. Familiar with RCM Program (or equivalent) to support the design and/or enhance the existing methodologies and processes with a continuous improvement mindset. A good understanding of industry leading practices and emerging trends related to RCM;

Communication - Have good oral & written communication skills to train and share learnings with stakeholders and other Compliance resources; to clearly and succinctly communicate RCM Program requirements and how they should be operationalized

Change Management - Have experience assessing how new or revised methodologies and processes impact people, processes and technology
