Compliance Lead, Individual Markets

Do you want to be part of a collaborative Legal Compliance Team? This role will be primarily responsible for providing compliance support and monitoring across Guardian’s Annuity business, which includes a variety of fixed and variable annuity products. The individual in this role will support partners areas by researching, analyzing, and evaluating state and federal laws to determine impact on business processes and accompanying key controls, and provide appropriate guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This position will also be responsible for the development, maintenance and execution of oversight protocols that help monitor compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements, as well as align with Guardian’s Corporate Policies. **You will** + Provide Compliance support and oversight regarding regulatory compliance matters and requirements impacting our Annuities portfolio to our business partners on day-to-day transactional activities and policies. + Support the on-boarding and continued oversight of new distributor relationships. + Advise business partners on suitability and operational process questions or issues. + Prepare board reports for our annual board meetings. + Maintain and manage the 38-a1 testing and certification program. + Review the interpretation of new laws/regulations and tracking of business partners’ compliance with those requirements. + Support the complaint department on annuity-related complaints. + Support the development of new annuity products. + Clarify ambiguous legislative/regulatory provisions. Correspond directly with appropriate stakeholders in the Guardian Organization when additional interpretation required. + Provide oversight and monitoring of issues identified during compliance risk assessments, other control function reviews, and/or regulatory interactions. + Assist business partners in developing appropriate controls to address any identified control deficiencies. + Consult Risk Management Partners for items identified from our testing programs to ensure appropriate handling during the life cycle of the underlying item. + Support the implementation of Enterprise compliance projects. + Perform special projects and other ad-hoc assignments in support of Individual Markets Compliance efforts. The individual in this role will also be responsible for the following: + Clarifying ambiguous legislative/regulatory provisions. Correspond directly with appropriate stakeholders in the Guardian Organization when additional interpretation is required. + Providing oversight and monitoring of issues identified during compliance risk assessments, other control function reviews, and/or regulatory interactions. + Assist business partners in developing appropriate controls to address any identified control deficiencies. Consulting with Risk Management + Partners for items identified from our testing programs to ensure appropriate handling during the life cycle of the underlying item. + Supporting implementation of Enterprise compliance projects. + Performing special projects and other ad-hoc assignments in support of Individual Markets **You have** + 5-10 years legal/regulatory/compliance/annuity product experience + Knowledge of NAIC and State specific requirements as they relate to annuities. + An undergraduate degree required, and an advanced degree such as a JD or MBA preferred but not required. + Strong working knowledge of all relevant regulations and apply that knowledge to evaluating business controls. + Ability to take proprietary ownership of their work, think strategically, work independently and as part of a team. + Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to solve problems in a practical and pragmatic manner. + Manage multiple projects and deliverables while executing on a wide range of tasks simultaneously. + Must be proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Comfortable with and ability to adapt to innovative technology. + Familiar with industry technology such as Zinnia, Luma, DTC, Firelight, AnnuityNet, preferred. **Reporting Relationship** As our Compliance Lead, you will report to our Senior Compliance Leader who reports to our Head of Individual Market Compliance. **Location** Hybrid role - 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH - Preferred locations- Guardian home offices located in Bethlehem, PA, or Hudson Yards NYC. Travel to Guardian offices as determined by the People Leader. **Salary Range:** $84,320.00 - $138,522.50 The salary range reflected above is a good faith estimate of base pay for the primary location of the position. The salary for this position ultimately will be determined based on the education, experience, knowledge, and abilities of the successful candidate.
