Position Purpose:
This is an entry-level position within the aircraft completions department. The Completions Trainee will receive hands-on training and classroom instruction in one or more aircraft completions craft disciplines, such as cabinet making, cabinet finishing, upholstery, carpet, and installation. The position involves performing various operations in a team environment under direct supervision while developing skills to complete the desired finished products such as aircraft seats and furniture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Task Performance: Under specific instruction and guidance, assist in the creation and assembly of various aircraft parts, contributing to the completion of finished products such as aircraft seats, cabinetry, and other furniture. Follow detailed work orders and specifications to ensure tasks are completed as per customer and company standards. Tool Use & Development: Learn and become proficient in using hand tools and power tools required for assigned tasks, including but not limited to saws, drills, and sanding equipment. Gain knowledge and skills through on-the-job training (OJT) and classroom instruction, with opportunities to develop technical expertise. Quality Assurance: Ensure work meets required quality standards through self-inspection and support from Quality Control Inspectors. Participate in continuous learning to understand and meet quality control standards specific to aircraft completions. Reading and Interpretation: Learn to read electronic work orders, drawings, and specification sheets to understand the sequence of operations, material requirements, and work instructions. Be able to follow step-by-step procedures to achieve the desired outcome. Supervision and Independence: Work under direct supervision initially, with an increasing level of independence as experience is gained. Seek assistance from supervisors or mentors when performing new or unfamiliar tasks. Other Duties as Assigned: Take on additional responsibilities as required by the department and as skills develop.
Other Requirements: Basic Math and Measurements: Must be able to read and understand scales and perform basic shop math, including measurements, fractions, and simple calculations. Reading & Comprehension: Ability to read, understand, and follow basic documents, instructions, and safety procedures. Personal Skills & Attributes: Strong mechanical aptitude and a hands-on approach to craftwork. Professional attitude, with attention to detail and the ability to meet demanding schedules. Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with others. Safety & Housekeeping: Demonstrate good housekeeping practices to maintain a clean and organized work environment. Adhere to all safety protocols to ensure personal safety and the safety of others in the workplace. Computer Skills: Basic proficiency with personal computers and the ability to navigate through software applications as required for job functions. Availability: Must be available to work flexible hours, including any shift as required by operational needs. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift and transport objects up to 40 pounds as part of job functions. Ability to stand, bend, and move around a production environment for extended periods.
Qualifications: Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience: No prior experience required. This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training. Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in hands-on work. Good communication skills, including the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. Basic computer skills.
Pay Details: $19.29 per hour
