The Compensation and Benefits manager is responsible will play a key role in administering and managing compensation and benefits programs for the groups US workforce (~300 employees) and acts as the primary HR operations lead for our Middletown, CT manufacturing plant. This dual-role position is both strategic and operational, supporting enterprise-wide total rewards strategy while ensuring day-to-day HR excellent and compliance at the plant level. This is a highly visible role within a growth-oriented Aerospace environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administer and maintain compensation structures, including base pay, incentive plans, and annual benchmarking against industry standards Manage benefit programs including health, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), disability, wellness initiatives, and leave administration Partner with HR leadership and finance to evaluate and recommend total rewards strategies aligned with business goals and budget considerations Lead the annual open enrollment process, communications, vendor relationships, and compliance (ACA, ERISA, COBRA) Serve as the primary liaison to benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and third-party vendors Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity, regulatory compliance, and accuracy of benefits enrollment and payroll deductions Act as the primary HR contact for plant employees, supervisors, and leadership for all day-to-day HR needs Partner with managers on employee relations, coaching, performance management, attendance, and compliance with company policies and employment laws Support recruiting and onboarding for plant roles working with recruitment agencies when needed Oversee HRIS data accuracy and reporting for the Middletown location, ensuring real-time visibility into headcount, turnover, and labor cost trends Lead plant-level HR compliance, including maintaining personnel files, I-9 audits, and EEO/AAP reporting requirementsKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong knowledge of U.S. labor laws, compensation best practices, benefits regulations, and HR compliance Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Excel (intermediate level) Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to partner across all levels of the organization Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailEDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field SHRM certification preferred but not requiredEXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, with strong focus on compensation and benefits administration Prior experience supporting a manufacturing plant or similar environment is highly desirableSALARY RANGE: $73,500 to $122,500 annually based on experience
