Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job
Implement and administer health education strategies, interventions, and programs per the approved work plan(s) and grant requirements. (i.e. exercise organization leadership, secure fiscal resources, manage human resources and obtain program acceptance and support.)
Prepare and submit grant reports, act as SEARHC liaison to funding organizations and work on a team for funding opportunities.
Develop grant applications and work plans as needed with support from SEARHC grant writers.
Track and report budget items for multiple grant budgets per the grantor’s requirements and SEARHC’s financial system.
Effectively assess, collect and critique health related-data and identify priority health issues per the assigned grant(s) or project(s).
Effectively supervise employees per the assigned grant(s) and project(s) that support this position.
Use data from multiple sources (including electronic health records) to identify underserved populations in the communities SEARHC serves, and outreach to connect them to prevention, screening, and primary care services. Services may be in-person or via telephone.
Communicate and advocate for health and health education per the approved grant work plan(s); apply a variety of communication methods and techniques, influence health policy and SEARHC resources to promote health in the targeted communities proposed by the grants or projects.
Work with Marketing to develop appropriate social media or outreach materials as needed.
Oversight of training the community partners in delivering health education/ intervention programs in their communities. These training opportunities may include but are not limited to online health programs, multi-session classes, and other duties as assigned.
Select, implement and evaluate evidence-based strategies to effectively improve health status of individuals, small groups and/or communities per the work plan(s) working across the SEARHC region and with multiple SEARHC staff across Divisions.
Supervisory responsibilities included.

Additional Details:
Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) required
High school diploma or equivalent
Vary based on job duties – may be required to obtain certification for specific job requirements or to increase knowledge and skills related to the position
Experience Required
5 years of progressively responsible, relevant, health promotion, public health, or related experience.
Experience in leading projects, presentations, working with teams and collaboration within communities OR Bachelor's degree in relevant field in lieu
Knowledge of
Knowledge of methods for strategic planning and how to develop strategies to reinforce or change organizational culture to achieve program goals.
Knowledge of public relations concepts and theories to obtain health promotion program support.
Implementation strategies for health promotion advocacy initiatives.
Knowledge of implementation strategies for health promotion advocacy initiatives.
Knowledge of the customs of the ethnic groups within the various Alaska Native geographic location and the ability to appreciate cultural differences and their effect on health care delivery.
Skills in
Skills in budget & proposal development to secure fiscal resources and support program requirements
Skills in assessing the merits and limitations of qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods
Skills in developing a logical scope and sequence plan for health education practice.
Ability to
Influence health policy to promote health both within and outside the SEARHC organization.
Incorporate theory-based foundations in planning health education programs.
Promote the health education individually and collectively.
Travel to remote locations periodically via boat or small planes.
Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of individuals.
Prioritize workload and manage time effectively to manage the patient case load and supervisory duties.
Communicate decisions and seek advice when necessary.
