Community Support Worker

Galway Oasis Day & Outreach Service

Co Galway

Permanent, 39 hours

 

Job Purpose

The Oasis service aims to providing a range of supports to School Leavers and RT leavers from the age of 18 years and over. The purpose of the job is to promote and support independent living and community integration, personal development, social interactions and work opportunities for people with Autism or physical/sensory disabilities. There is a strong emphasis on Community involvement and signposting people to resources in their own community.

 

Minimum Education & Skills required

Essential: 1 to 2 years’ work experience supporting individuals who have autism, physical/sensory disabilities or mental health challenges. Desirable: QQI Level 5 preference for Health and Social Care or equivalent. Willingness to participate in RehabCare mandatory and further development training programme.

 

Job Duties & Responsibilities

To plan, develop, implement, monitor and review appropriate educational, recreational and occupational programs within the community ensuring best practice in line with up to date research regarding improving people Quality of Life. To liaise with families, multidisciplinary teams and other personnel, as directed by the management team, to ensure the best quality of service with the individuals as directed by community services manager. To document information and complete paperwork as deemed necessary for delivery of service to the individuals.

 

Additional requirements

Full clean driving license. To comply with health and safety legislation. To maintain a basic knowledge of first aid/personal care and to implement good hygiene practices.
