We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Community Health Rep.
Together Growing Strong TGS is a community based initiative within The Department of Population Health in the NYU Grossman School of Medicine The goal of TGS is to strengthen early childhood health and wellbeing by supporting families providers and educators in Sunset Park Brooklyn The community health representative will be part of the TGS Outreach team The Outreach team values the different cultures in Sunset Park and takes an anti racist approach to its work Collaboratively with the Family Health Centers the Outreach team engages families to better understand their strengths and needs and develop programs to support them.
We are seeking a bilingual Spanish/English Community Health Representative to assist with identifying and implementing new strategies to outreach and engage with families in the Latinx community developing and translating early childhood program content and developing and implementing read alouds in the community.
Job Responsibilities:
Build relationships with local community and faith based organizations identifying opportunities for project outreach and collaboration nbsp; Provide input on existing outreach strategies and development of program materials nbsp; Implement new and existing outreach methods to further engage families in the Latinx community Help develop early childhood content that is culturally relevant and translate materials into Spanish for the TGS messaging program Conduct read aloud either in person or virtually for families with young children in the Latinx community Collaborate with the rest of the TGS Outreach Team on community events and data collection activities Participate in team meetings and supervision Complete other activities as requestedAdditional Position Specific Responsibilities:
Strong interpersonal skills: warm friendly open energetic; ability to work well with a wide range of people; Familiarity with NYC community and faith based organizations serving the Latinx community; Interest in engaging different community groups and community members; Interest in working with children and families immigrant groups and populations of color; Detail oriented conscientious with strong organizational skills; Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a large team; Fluency in Spanish and English; Basic computer knowledge
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma and minimum of 1 year related experience in an office setting or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Effective Oral written communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Strong advocacy and community organizing skills; Ability to multi task; Experience in the education field
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $48,274.10 – $49,995.40 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
