Community Driver

Overview This is a seasonal role. Active from April-October. Paid By Event: $185-$220 per outing Summary: The Community Driver is responsible for attending and representing Ozinga at local Touch-a-Truck events and parades. This position is responsible for getting the ready-mix truck to and from events and making sure the truck is kept clean before and after each event. The Community Driver will need to interact with individuals and share information about the truck or the role of a ready-mix driver. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Clean truck before and after community events • Drive ready-mix concrete truck to community events such as Touch-a-Trucks and parades • Interact, answer questions and share about Ozinga, how concrete is made, how the trucks work, the job of a driver, etc. • Comply with established safety rules, policies, and directives as required by company, OSHA, and local management • Keeping the truck in a clean condition • Effectively operating ready-mix concrete truck by driving safely and consistently following safety standards, delivery instructions and roadway signs for best routes to job sites Global Responsibilities: • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position • This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs Qualifications: Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications: • High School Diploma or equivalent required • CDL Class A, or CDL Class B with airbrake endorsement required • No restriction on transmission type preferred • Passing the Federal Department of Transportation drug screen required • Obtaining DOT Medical Certificate from a company approved clinic required • Being knowledgeable about and following all relevant USDOT, environmental, and traffic laws required Experience: • 2 – 3 years of experience driving heavy commercial vehicles preferred Skills/Abilities: • Dependable, well organized, safety minded, and have efficient work habits • Positive attitude with a focus on customer satisfaction • Ability to operate a truck mounted mobile smart device preferred • Ability to effectively operate a truck with manual transmission preferred Working Conditions: • In an enclosed vehicle subject to whole body vibration and sedentary position • Outdoors, exposed to weather and uneven ground conditions Physical Requirements: • Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms • Climb in and out of truck and; other movements may require balance, kneeling, crawling, crouching, or walking • Responsible for Personal Protective Equipment such as hard hat, safety vest, safety glasses, work shoes and gloves • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus • Operate buttons, levers, and other controls located on various equipment • Work through stressful situations while maintaining professionalism and composure • Must be able to work flexible hours as necessary Ozinga is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
