Job Summary: Under the direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the employee will perform Production Manager functions and ensure efficiency & compliance of all Production Manager duties and responsibilities. Other duties may apply. All employees are responsible for following Northgate Markets Food Safety protocols.                                                                                                         This position leads by example. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

Ensure that the area of responsibility is properly organized, staffed, and directed and that all production times are being met in a timely manner.  Ensure all supervisors and leads are conducting daily work group meetings and communicating important information to employees in a timely manner.  Schedule and manage associates to meet daily labor productivity and overtime targets.  Ensure compliance with all government regulatory agencies' standards (for example: Food and Drug Administration (FDA), United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Safe Food Quality Program (SQF), Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT), and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), etc.).  Document and follow up on all department processes to implement improvements.  Collaborate with the ERP team and become an expert on ERP systems within the Production Department.  Manage productivity hours and costs in responsibility; initiate and steer corrective actions in case of deviations.  Guide, motivate, and develop staff within the company policies.  Participate and support company-sponsored initiatives such as Quality, HACCP, SQF, Lean Manufacturing, Employee Safety, and Production systems.  Ensure department utilization of ERP systems.  Achieve department Productivity, Quality, and Safety goals.  Drive continuous improvement utilizing lean manufacturing processes.  Ensure on-time and accurate production daily, JIT (Just in Time)  Responsible for proper operation and training of staff on equipment.  Monitor and ensure compliance with all safety and labor regulations.  Other duties as deemed necessary.  Ensures all processes meet customer’s specification requirements and minimizes risk to the company.  Responsible for maintaining a qualified and productive staff to meet and/or exceed the expected level of performance and demands of management and customers.  Develop and monitor a continuous improvement methodology directed at improving performance in the departmental areas assigned, including productivity, quality, safety, attendance, sanitation, yields and cost reduction/control.  Responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, execution, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures, (SOP’s).   Promote a People First Culture by continuously guiding and coaching associates in alignment with established policies and procedures.   Communicates/coordinates staffing and training requirements with Human Resources for labor scheduling, forecasting, and reduction in force requirements, ensuring operating requirements are met effectively and efficiently promotes and maintains positive relationships among all levels of management and associates.

Must have a very strong Customer Service commitment.  In depth knowledge on Food manufacturing & processing.  Understand the ability to work and manage production lines with hands on, on the floor style of management.  Ability to understand and effectively communicate the daily production requirements as to product type(s), finishes and distribution of product between kitchen, warehouse, and fresh cut fruit operations.  Ability to establish and use metrics and continuous improvements processes to drive up performance.  Able to resolve operational problems related to projects and minimize delays or unexpected cost increases.  Ability to develop creative solutions to problems and challenges as they are identified and resolve them in a timely manner.  Able to demonstrate attention to detail and follow through in all areas of responsibility.   Ability to develop & coordinate project plans / projects and communicate changes and progress effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the department associates, Peers, and Store Management.    Must be able work with others and coordinate production with co-workers.  Must work with minimum or no supervision.  Must have an excellent attendance record, reliable and flexible when seasonal work is occasionally required.  Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment. 

Education and/or Experience: 

Bachelor’s degree preferable but not a must.  5+ years’ demonstrated manufacturing & processing supervisory experience in roles of increasing responsibility demonstrating the ability to achieve results.  Supervisor experience and knowledge of current management and supervisory techniques. Lead, delegate, monitor, and follow up. 

Certificates/ Licenses/ Registrations 

 HACCP Certified required  Food Manager Safety Training  

Skills Required: 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to read, write and speak English satisfactorily to perform the essential functions.  Bi-lingual English Spanish highly desirable.  Ability to calculate complex figures and amounts such as formulation, vertical production, proportions, percentages, and volumes.   Ability to define problems, collect data. Establish facts and draw valid conclusions.  Strong leadership skills.  Be able to have good communication and mentoring skills.  Be able to critical think with exceptional problem-solving skills and be able to work independently or in a team environment.  Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in a high output environment.  Proven management and leadership skills to orchestrate complex large-scale projects and fixed budgets.  Solid knowledge in Word, Excel & Power point.
