The Role
As a Commercial Manager, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Supporting our work at Devonport Royal Dockyard; we are a key strategic partner to our customers; the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy.

 

Day-to-day, you’ll be responsible for Contract Management activities and on-contract growth in order to ensure the financial and commercial interests of the Company are optimised; you will support the achievement of financial targets and ensure that contractual obligations and associated risks are adequately managed in accordance with business processes and in alignment with the strategic direction of the company:

 

Preparation of commercial elements for response to Request for Quotation (RfQ), Contract Management and Contract Amendments; which may include reviewing, drafting and negotiating Terms & Conditions. Providing support and guidance to the business regarding pricing, Terms & Conditions and commercial constraints as well as SSRO regulatory requirements. Support commercial discussions and negotiations with customers; prepare and review responses to contract amendments and work with business stakeholders to support required governance and approval processes. Prepare and review proposed contractual agreements such as NDAs and provide support to the Supply Chain function, such as identifying appropriate flow down of Terms & Conditions.

 

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and requires regular travel to Plymouth or Bristol on a weekly / monthly basis alongside home working arrangements.

 

Essential Experience of the Commercial Manager:

Demonstrable experience managing contracts in a regulated environment. Commercially astute with an understanding of the procurement process. Good communication, presentation, networking and negotiation skills. Experience of supporting the RfQ’s process, management of large-scale government contracts and an awareness of Subcontract Management is highly desirable. Ideally, you’ll have exposure to the defence industry or similar but, this is not essential.

 

Qualifications for the Commercial Manager:

World Commerce and Contracting (WCC) (previously IACCM) or MCIPS qualifications are highly desirable.

 

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
