Overview:
Manages all aspects of MTCLC’s (M&T Capital Leasing Corporation) Documentation Department and works closely with Leasing Chief Legal Counsel, Documentation Attorney, and Manager Portfolio Audits to ensure new loan and lease transactions and third-party paper purchases are prepared and closed in an accurate and timely manner and comply with all laws and regulations and internal policies and procedures, and portfolio audits are completed timely, with minimum documentation errors identified. Manages departmental work assignments, pre-closing documentation review, and post-closing audits.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee all aspects of the documentation function to ensure all loans and leases close timely and conform with loan approval requirements.
Manage a team that completes all aspects of documentation and closing of loan and lease transactions. Approve funding on all transactions within a specific dollar amount and review and approve departmental work to ensure compliance with credit approval and loan closing conditions. Execute loans, leases, assignments, and related documentation on behalf of the organization. Purchase third-party paper as needed.
Assist and coordinate with internal and/or external counsel on large or complex transactions as required.
Ensure all departmental post-closing items are obtained, and all file audit requirements are adhered to. Coordinate audits of transactions closed by the department, meet regularly with Manager Portfolio Audits to discuss results for performance review and training opportunities, and manage all follow-up to ensure completeness and accuracy. Maintain departmental pipeline of transactions, work assignment, and audits.
Develop and maintain currency of department policies and procedures related to document preparation, funding, workflow, and other processes, to minimize regulatory and legal compliance risks to the organization.
Lead or participate in special projects as requested by management.
Work on loan and lease transactions as needed based on department workload.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Understand and adhere to the Company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in accordance with the Company’s Risk Appetite. Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk on an ongoing basis. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.

Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years’ related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years’ related experience
Minimum of 2 years’ managerial, supervisory and/or work leadership experience
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficiency with personal computers as well as pertinent word processing, spreadsheet, and industry-specific software

Physical Requirements:
