About the role

As the Commercial Contracts Manager – (CCA) this role is responsible for providing contract management, administration, commercial advice, and counsel, in relation to the management, interpretation & application of the contract for commercial projects.

This role will be based at the Support Office located in Burnley. You will be working autonomously to form key commercial support across several of our commercial teams including Supply & Install and Frame & Truss.  Working across projects incorporating both customer (client) and subcontractor arrangements and the management of interface and risk between the two parties is a priority of the role. The role may also provide support and advice in relation to alternative contractual structures including, service agreements and other 3rd party structures in conjunction with our Business Development, Legal and other partners.

What's involved:

Provide contract management and administration duties in relation to the day-to-day requirements for the delivery of major projects, including liaising with Clients, Contractors and Project Team members.

Provide strong commercial counsel and leadership within the project team and its integrated team members (SME’s).

Support and advise the project leaders to manage the upstream (client) and downstream (contractors) contracts after contract award for projects including interface and ‘back-to-back’ contracting risk.

Advise and assist the project team to understand the rights and obligations of Bunnings in relation to the contracts including providing sound commercial advice.

Assist with the Interpretation of contract terms and assessment of strategies and actions.

Ensure contractual risk is managed and mitigated including support to manage all variations, extension of time, delay and disruption claims, liquidated damages, provisional sums in order to protect and maximise value

Assist in the development of templates and preparation of notices under the contract

Provide support to the project team in managing insurances, bonds or bank guarantees

Ensure compilation of retention, Warranty and As-Built Documentation

Who we’re looking for

Bringing your experience as a Contracts Manager along with your strong analytical skills, commercial acumen and clear and concise thinking, and an ability to build relationships across broad stakeholder groups internally and externally.

You’ll need:

A thorough understanding of legal and contractual frameworks for construction – particularly across QLD, NSW, and Victoria

Proven experience in developing and administrating legal contracts in a construction or related field, including scopes of work.

Advanced commercial contracts knowledge and experience.

Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

Strong communication and influencing skills.

Demonstrated experience in understanding agreements for development plans, Building Specifications, and building costs

Detailed understanding of project planning, programming, scheduling, administration, budgeting and quality control

Operational experience of project delivery software

Experience of document control systems

Experience of time sensitive and well staged projects

Experience of hosting, holding and documenting meetings

Experience in report writing

Demonstrated examples of innovation and performance
