As an intern you will be working in the transmission and Distribution Forecasting, Modeling, and Analysis group to develop and test solutions that improve future system reliability and capacity. You will also gain exposure to other groups in T&D Asset Management, including Reliability and Project Planning.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate should be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior student pursuing a degree in Engineering.

Primary duties:

Support engineers on a variety of electric infrastructure projects by designing future state distribution and transmission power systemsDevelop unique solutions to gather, store, and utilize electrical asset data implemented and collected in the field to improve data driven decision makingCreate and maintain electrical models using power flow software such as PSSE and CYMEPerform compliance studies, such as power flow analysis and short circuit analysis, and learn about our regulatory agenciesCreate scope of work documents, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects engaging engineering and other SMEs as requiredWork with AES engineering and finance teams to build the project business cases using financial modeling toolsValidate project financial data submitted to the annual budget review processManage the budget for assigned T&D annual investment programsUtilize Management of Change and Asset Governance processes for controlling the modification of equipment, systems, and processesParticipate in root cause analyses (RCAs) for significant T&D equipment failuresSupport development and updates to Asset Life Cycle Plans (ALCP) for critical asset classesWork in an agile, collaborative environment partnering with technicians, engineers, regulatory experts and businesspeople of all backgrounds and disciplines to solve complex problemsAttend site visits to substations or other engineering sites to verify electric facilities through field research and learn about complex T&D systemsParticipate in formalized AES-specific learning opportunities to further your knowledge and understanding towards accelerating the responsible energy transitionNetwork with peers, AES leaders, and other like-minded employees in dedicated events, lunch and learns and speaker seriesUse industry-leading software to study potential problems on the electrical grid and proactively propose solutionsActively engage in open discussions to identify ways the company can improve to be better prepared for the future of the energy world

Intern may be expected to complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
