Job Description
A large manufacturer of pipes, valves, and flanges (PVF) is seeking CNC machinists/operators for immediate openings. The role involves working in a production shop with pre-loaded programs, indicating parts, and touching off. The job primarily entails machining small to medium parts from carbon steel and stainless steel using Mazak horizontal lathes with Mazatrol controls.
Pay: up to 24/hr
Shift: Second
Location: Next to Hobby Airport
ResponsibilitiesOperate CNC horizontal lathes and ensure quality production of parts.Set up machines with minimal edits using G code.Machining flanges ranging from 2\" to 6\" OD.Work with both carbon steel and stainless steel materials.Monitor longer runtimes on larger parts with wide open tolerances.Ensure consistent production of similar parts in varying sizes.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in CNC machining or operating.Proficiency with horizontal lathe operations.Experience with G code and Mazak/Mazatrol controls.Knowledge of working with vertical turret lathes (VTL), horizontal boring mills (HBM), and vertical mills.Ability to read and interpret blueprints.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with Fanuc and Siemens controls.Familiarity with machining fittings, pipes, valves, and flanges.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment is a large, older manufacturing shop that has been renovated. It includes shipping and receiving areas, as well as a large machining shop equipped with overhead cranes and jib cranes at every station due to the size of the parts. The shop is loud, open-air, and non-climate controlled, but it is equipped with large fans for air circulation. The diverse workforce communicates in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese. The day shift has around 40 machinists (90% CNC, 10% manual), and the night shift has about 8 CNC machinists. Steel-toed boots, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses are required. The 2nd shift runs from 4:00pm to 1:00am Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work depending on production needs. The 1st shift runs from 7:00am to 4:00pm.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr.
