Club Adventure Camp Counselor
Overview This position directly works with our Adventure Day Camp. Children in this program are ages 5-9 and curriculum focuses on recreation activities ranging from sports and games, arts and crafts, swimming and a fantastic field trip each week. Adventure Day Camp will also participate in activities led by our Counselor in Training group of children who will be learning Early Childhood basics and getting hands on experience. Responsibilities + Assist staff with check in/out process. + Assist in planning itinerary and leading groups of up to 20 children in activities + Monitor behavior and implement appropriate disciplinary techniques. + Maintain a safe environment for the children. Must be comfortable entering swimming pool during camp hours + Effectively communicate with management, co-workers and parents concerning behavior or other problems + Apply first aid when needed + Maintain full knowledge of emergency procedures and ensure that they are followed for all incidents, accidents, and other emergencies + Attend monthly department meetings with the Kids’ Club Staff – including but not limited to CPR training. Qualifications + CPR Training and Standard First Aid certifications required. + Applicants should be capable of bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 40lbs. + Position will be exposed to outdoor elements. + Comfortable leading groups of children in educational and recreational activities + Organizational and interpersonal communication skills + The ability to handle several situations simultaneously + The ability to assist in creating & implementing an activity schedule with Camp Coordinator and Management and follow prescribed curriculum. + Friendly, energetic & dependable + Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc. + Experience/interest in field of education preferred + Demonstrated skills/hobbies directly related to youth activities (art, sports, music, camping, science, gardening, etc,) preferred.
