Cloud Release Engineer I

Job Summary:

The Release Engineer is accountable for the delivery of LexisNexis Legal & Professional GTO services supporting Lexis and Lexis Plus applications and other services within the New Lexis Platform. The Release Engineer is responsible for the coordination and deployment of components of New Lexis Platform structure.  

 

Release Engineer will plan, schedule, and are the gatekeepers of the software build and delivery process. Requires great attention to detail and a complete understanding of Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) process.

Accountabilities:

The release engineer is responsible for building, enhancing, and overseeing deployments pipelines for the Lexis Platform. This includes:Automating the deployment process for all components (frontend, java middle tier, and ML) by enhancing the release pipelinesRunning change review meetingsScreen changes to ensure deployment steps are documented and quality certification meet requirementsPre and post release communicationsLead the release and triage incidents/issues during deploymentsConduct retrospectives and/or follow ups for release related issues until closure of the problem. Create and maintain release related documentation Fully understand the deployment pipelines for various components feature peers, shared services, frontend (LA App) and MLTroubleshoot issues with pipelines during releasesOwn the release governance for the Lexis Platform.Schedule, coordinate, and manage releases for multiple applications that exist within the businessWork closely with IT release managers and build a release calendarAssist in project management to ensure milestone goals are metManage and mitigate risks that relate to scope, quality, and scheduleConduct project related interviews such asRelease readiness reviewsBusiness go/no go reviewsMilestone reviewsDiscuss release scope and/or roadblocks in Release advisory board meetingsProvide reporting to Senior IT Management to keep them up to dateParticipate in Continuous Improvements initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologiesEnhance release process to move teams towards Continuous Delivery / DevOps EliteCollect and report on release related metrics

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree.Minimum 3-5 years experience in IT industry or related fieldKnowledgeable and understanding of Cloud concepts and technologies (AWS, Kubernetes, and Azure).Familiar in Cloud application performance monitoring (Splunk, Datadog, Coralogix and alike)Knowledgeable in Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery - CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Artifactory and alike)Identify areas key areas to automateKnowledge and understanding of basic Unix/Linux, Windows server operating systemsUnderstanding of basic JAVA middleware and web server concepts and technologies.Knowledge and understanding of database concepts including basic troubleshooting, high-availability, clustering and disaster recovery, including no-SQL databaseSolid interpersonal, proactive, teamwork, communication and follow up skills (verbal and written) required with different levels of hierarchy.Ability to monitor, define, analyze and resolve issues both effectively and efficiently in a high-pressure production environment.
