Cloud Design Manager

The Cloud Design Manager will own Detailed Design function for Cloud Engineering, help develop our infrastructure standards to improve the consistency and effectiveness of our Enterprise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) Patterns across three clouds (AWS, Azure & GPC). The role will close the gap from our Cloud Architects and Cloud Engineers who deploy the IaC which will allow us to operate with greater speed and consistency across three clouds. Expectation of the role will be heavily documentation focused and will need to be a team player to collaborate with the various stakeholders both externally and internally to Cloud Engineering.

We are looking for someone with an understanding of cloud technologies and who can effectively communicate and prioritise stakeholders' needs. This person must be able to influence and negotiate with stakeholders to gain buy-in and alignment with broader enterprise strategy as well as build trust and foster a collaborative environment to ensure goals are achieved.

Commercial & Strategic Priorities

Own the Detailed Design function for Cloud Engineering across three clouds.Work with Architects (Cloud, Infrastructure and Security) and other Solution Designers to own the creation of Detailed Designs of public cloud infrastructure across three clouds which will predominately built around PaaS based infrastructure. Well versed in creating documentation for project implementations, this will include inputting into solution architecture documents, market scans/research, conceptual/solution architecture, etc..Work collaborative with the Cloud Engineering team to inform the Engineers on the multitude of ways a PaaS should be configured. i.e. develop Design Standards for each CSP Service on how each service should be configured to meet each project(s) FRs, NFRs and Security Controls.Have a strong knowledge of cloud architecture, ideally across Azure, GCP and AWS.

 About you  

 Essential Experience:

Extensive experience leading a function.Significant experience developing cloud infrastructure detailed designs documentation.A mandatory detailed knowledge of cloud PaaS services.Demonstrated skills working with internal customers in a large-scale development environment.Proficient in both waterfall and agile development methodologies.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.Experience in adopting a customer-centric mindset and building strong relationships with users. This includes conducting research, gathering feedback, and incorporating customer needs into product requirements and prioritisation decisionsAbility to navigate and resolve conflicts that may arise between different teams or stakeholders. 

Critical Knowledge:

Familiarity with cloud products and security standards.Awareness of the evolving cloud technology landscape, including advancements, emerging technologies, and best practices.Tertiary qualification in Information Technology or related discipline.Exposure to Cloud Computing (AWS, GCP or Azure) and Software Development Lifecycle. Awareness of cloud security best practices, compliance standards.
