CLINICIAN I or II - TRANSITIONAL JAIL SERVICES

The NRVCS Jail Diversion team is seeking a dedicated professional to join in treating and supporting criminal justice-involved adults. The transitional clinician provides direct interventions to include case management, individual counseling, and consultation to individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) and/or substance use disorders (SUD) who are transitioning from incarceration at New River Valley Regional Jail (NRVRJ) and Montgomery County Jail (MCJ) to the community. This role develops and maintains working relationships with individuals served, jail staff, NRVCS staff, and other community agencies and resources as needed to ensure quality services. Assist in the management of behavioral health crisis in the jail setting and provide pre-admission screening evaluation and emergency services as needed. 

 

Salary:

Clinician I: $49,041

Clinician II: $59,344

 

Education Requirements:

Transitional Clinician I:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or another licensed eligible field is required. State of Virginia license eligibility in Social Work, Marriage and Family or another related field is required. QMHP status or eligibility is helpful. At least one year of clinical experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities, is required. Experience working with substance use disorders and those with SMI required.

Transitional Clinician II:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or other licensed eligible field is required. State of Virginia license is required in Social Work, Marriage and Family or another related field. SUD certification as CSAC, MAC, LSATP is helpful. At least one year of clinical experience working with individuals with serious mental illness, substance use disorders, developmental and/or intellectual disabilities is required. Experience working with substance use disorders and those with SMI required.
