Clinical Technology Manager - Maui Health
Description: Job Summary:
Responsible for planning, organizing, developing, and directing, the operations of the Biomedical Engineering Department. Supervises the activities of the Biomedical Engineering Program through a subordinate supervisor. Also performs complex installations, repairs, calibrations and periodic/preventive maintenance and documentation of biomedical equipment. Supervises assigned staff.
Essential Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and controls the overall operations of the Biomedical Engineering Program.Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures, and ensures adherence of staff to established policies and procedures.Plans and coordinates work assignments within the department.Provides technical knowledge, skills and guidance to staff on all aspects of imaging, laboratory, surgical, clinical and other electronic equipment.Coordinates the installation of medical equipment with various manufacturers, contractors, engineers, and architects and MMMC departments/personnel.Manages and provides recommendations on service contracts.Makes recommendations and assists in the preparation of capital equipment, personnel, expense and operating budgets.Plans and projects needs for future personnel, training, test equipment, parts/back up equipment, and general assets. Basic Qualifications: Experience
Minimum six (6) years of experience showing that the applicant has gained a thorough knowledge of installation, repair, calibration, periodic maintenance and documentation of Type A (Clinical) and/or Type B (Imaging) equipment in the biomedical field in an acute care hospital setting.Two (2) years shall have been as a fully competent worker in either Type A (Clinical) or Type B (Imaging) biomedical engineering experience.Minimum two (2) years of Biomedical Engineering Technician Supervisor experience. Education
High School Diploma.Certificate of completion from a vocational school in the field of electronics, biomedical electronics or electronic technology OR an Associate of Science degree in electronics, electronic engineering, biomedical electronics or electronics technology from an accredited institution. License, Certification, Registration Driver's License (Hawaii)
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of the overall requirements for effectively providing a wide range of biomedical services, including biomedical engineering principles and standard methods and techniques; operations and repair of biomedical equipment; electronic principles and theories; functions of different types of clinical and imaging equipment in a hospital; principles and practices of supervision; regulatory and accrediting standards.Ability to plan, coordinate, develop and direct the wide range of biomedical services and work with other hospital personnel in effectively providing these services.Communicate effective orally and in writing; and prepare reports.Possess the ability to effectively supervise and direct others in biomedical engineering techniques, methods and quality standards and goals and to deal effectively with other supervisors in organizing and expediting work. Preferred Qualifications:
Possession of the Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician.
