Job Summary: The Clinical Staff Development Specialist with Loma Linda University Health Care (LLUHC) Nursing Services is to monitor, implement, and sustain the smooth operations of clinical education, competencies, orientation, training and other special projects for clinical back office personnel within the department and all other LLUHC clinical departments as assigned. Ensures clinical personnel are trained, educated, oriented, and competent to safely and effectively perform clinical duties within UHC departments for optimal patient care and safe work environment. Works closely with other LLUHC and LLUH departments as needed to ensure that all safety, regulatory, compliance, infection control, etc. standards are met, maintained, and supported. Establishes, maintains, and updates a reference base for training, orientation, education, etc. to support clinical back office personnel to have up to date information/skills necessary to function at optimal patient care standards. Manages LLUHC Clinical Staff Academy (CSA) and Clinical Peer Review to enhance orientation, safe patient practices and workflows. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of a Credentialed or Nationally Recognized Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN) program required. Minimum two years of clinical ambulatory health care experience required. Minimum of two years Clinical Health Care Education experience preferred.
Knowledge and Skills: Nursing principles, practices, and ethics within the LVN scope of practice. Read; write legibly; speak in English (and Spanish preferred) with professional quality; use computer and software programs necessary to the position; troubleshoot and calibrate patient care and office equipment. Relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, manage, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Think critically; work independently with minimal supervision; perform basic math functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; work well under pressure; problem solve; organize and prioritize workload; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail. Distinguish colors and smells as necessary for patient care & patient care education; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the work place/patient care and patient care education; see adequately to read computer screens, medical records, and written documents necessary to position.
Licensures and Certifications: Active California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License required. Intravenous (IV) Certification required. Basic Life Support- Provider Course (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) required. Current unrestricted California Drivers License and Current Transportation with Automobile Insurance.
