POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Primary Therapist works with clients, either individually or in groups, to address mental health concerns. The Clinical Primary Therapist applies knowledge and skill to assist clients in recovery and illness management. The Primary Therapist is responsible to establish the boundaries of therapy including a comfortable safe environment, caring therapeutic culture and foundation for client / family engagement in recovery and behavioral management. The Primary Therapist completes a comprehensive assessment gathering data and information resulting in clinical formulation as the framework for development of the treatment plan. In collaboration with the client / family the Therapist establishes goals for treatment and identifies the interventions to promote goal achievement. The Clinical Primary Therapist is responsible for timely accurate documentation in the client’s medical record, coordination of care with colleagues in the clinic and colleagues throughout the continuum to secure the appropriate treatment resources to promote client health.  The Primary Clinical Therapist participates in the on call rotation to the Emergency Departments of Finger Lakes Health to provide mental health crisis evaluation and collaborate with the on-call psychiatrist to develop appropriate plan of care. QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Minimum: Master’s degree in Mental Health, Social Work, or Nursing, Master’s Degree in Art Therapy, Masters in Psychology Preferred: PhD
LICENSE: Minimum: New York State Mental Health Counselor License, Social Work License to practice in NYS or New York State Nurse's License or License in Creative Arts Therapy  Current New York state driver’s license free of violations consistent with FLH policy.
PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS: Minimum: BLS required through the RQI system during clinical orientation.  CPI certification within 90 days of hire. 
WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum: 1 Year experience in a mental health or hospital setting Preferred: 3 years of experience in a mental health setting.
SKILLS: Minimum: This individual must demonstrate good communication skills both verbal and written, good judgment, flexibility, accountability, and acknowledge the standards of productivity set by the department.  Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information with discretion and ability to deal with the people in a professional and courteous manner.  Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple priorities and enhance the spirit of teamwork through effective role modeling.  Excellent interpersonal, communication and organization skills. Computer literacy Preferred:  Experience with Microsoft Office products and electronic medical record Salary Range: $29.17-$32.63
