Job Title: Clinical Manager – Obstetrics/Women’s Care

Job Description:

The Clinical Manager/Educator of Women’s Care is responsible and accountable for assisting the Director of Women’s Care in the coordination and supervision of nursing care provided in Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby, Nursery Treatment area and OB/OR/PACU areas. The education responsibilities are in accordance with hospital and system training/education requirements, the needs of department employees and in collaboration with Women’s Care Director and Education and Professional Development Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages shift operations for department/unit, adjusting staff assignments as acuity, census, staffing and priorities change.Performs nurse leader rounding with a purpose, utilizing key questions to obtain feedback from patients and families. Resolves any issues at point of service.Addresses patient, family, and physician issues regarding patient care during the assigned shift, ensuring positive customer relations.Monitors staff compliance with facility policies and procedures and follows up as appropriate, including communication with Director.Mentor and coach staff to enhance their professional development.Works in partnership with Staff Development and preceptors of new staff to facilitate a successful orientation.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in NursingCurrent RN licensure or work permit in KentuckyNational Certification in obstetricsAWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring, recentBasic Life Support (BLS)Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)Five years varied Labor and Delivery, Mother-Baby and/or Nursery experienceTwo years of management or specialty team leader experience
