Description:Under the general supervision of the Director, Clinical Engineering, and according to department procedures and assignments, performs pre-purchase consultation and planning, installation, corrective and preventive maintenance services, compliance with local, state, federal and JACHO regulatory requirements and documents results.Provides pre-purchase consultation and planning services for new biomedical devices and systems.Coordinates and arranges work schedules for the Clinical Application Equipment Specialists, provides Planned Maintenance (PM), safety set-up, testing, repairs, calibration, verification, installation, routine and emergency service, and hands-on technical applications operational support to advanced neurosurgical image guided navigation, neural integrity monitoring, stereotactic planning, advanced robotic and laparoscopic/arthroscopic systems, as assigned by the Clinical Engineering Supervisor or Manager. Completes corrective and planned maintenance work order documentation per policy Performs other duties as assigned or requested by the CE Manager. Provides on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis, as assigned.Performs planned maintenance on multiple types of medical surgical equipment, such as electrosurgical units, heart/lung bypass systems, analyzers following manufacturer’s recommendations, standards or code requirements, as well as industry acceptable processes as guidelines. Provides emergency and routine service requests for biomedical devices and systems to assure that equipment functions according to specifications.Provides assistance in maintaining the records of all equipment services performed by the Clinical Engineering Department by documenting the results of all work performed.Monitors work done by outside contractors to assure performance according to contractual commitments and that results are documented. Notifies equipment users, CE Managers, and Regional Director of repair status and delays as necessary. Interfaces with clinical staff to understand and resolve operational problems in scheduling and completing planned maintenance while minimizing interference to surgical department. Interfaces with clinical staff to coordinate and schedule clinical application support for planned and emergency surgical procedures.Maintains a working knowledge of applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations and industry standards, complies with Trinity Health’s and Loyola's Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects ethical and professional integrity.Must have a thorough understanding of anatomy, physiology, surgical procedures and techniques, and medical terminology.Ability to analyze and interpret information provided by clinical/surgical staff and determine optimum operational condition of equipment. Ability to follow complex written instructions, perform tasks and document actions taken.Responsible for continually improving processes by seeking ways to eliminate and reduce waste. Promotes teamwork by keeping others informed, participating effectively in group decision making, works to accomplish team objectives and projects, and solicits feedback about one's effectiveness as a team member.

Minimum Experience:

Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience in robotics, advanced neurosurgical image guided navigation, neural integrity monitoring, stereotactic planning, advanced robotic and laparoscopic/arthroscopic systems, surgical microscopes, and surgical integration systems in an OR setting. · Preferred: 5-7 years of previous job-related experience robotics, advanced neurosurgical image guided navigation, neural integrity monitoring, stereotactic planning, advanced robotic and laparoscopic/arthroscopic systems, surgical microscopes, and surgical integration systems in an OR setting.
