Job Description:

The CE Technician I is an entry-level position within Intermountain Health’s Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) department. The CE Technician I is responsible for maintaining assigned clinical equipment through the effective use of the Medical Equipment Management Plan. Performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of a limited scope of clinical equipment under the guidance and/or direct supervision of an experienced peer or supervisor. The CE Technician I may serve in a variety of job-specific roles and clinical environments, including but not limited to: Hospitals & Clinics, Surgical Centers, Home Healthcare, Dialysis Centers, Central Processing Departments, Clinical Laboratory, Information Technology or the Repair Depot Service Center.

Essential duties:

Equipment Expertise

Demonstrates a basic understanding of clinical equipment relevant to the assigned role within the caregiver clinical environmentPerforms preventive maintenance procedures on assigned clinical equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications or an established Intermountain HTM alternative maintenance (AEM) programDemonstrates basic troubleshooting and repair techniques when performing corrective maintenance.Maintains adequate inventory of commonly used parts and supplies

Demonstrates timely and accurate documentation of service performed on clinical equipment using the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS)Demonstrates competency in accessing clinical equipment service history using the CMMSDemonstrates proficiency in accessing and referencing Intermountain Healthcare’s clinical equipment user and service manual library

Policy and Procedure

Has a basic understanding of local and national public safety and regulatory requirements.Demonstrates proficiency in locating and referencing policies and procedures relevant to work scope through Intermountain Health’s Policy Library portal

Effective Communication and Rounding

Accountable for clear and effective written and oral communication with department leadership as well as caregivers encountered while performing job dutiesAccountable to report issues and concerns to department leadershipAble to solve basic front-line customer service issuesAccountable for regular rounding with assigned departments to promote a HTM presence and to meet with front-line caregivers for the purpose of identifying service opportunitiesAble to provide ongoing education to front-line clinical caregivers on proper use of medical devices.

Other

CE Technician I duties may include after-hours weekend on-call assignments and travel.Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Demonstrated experience working with Medical Equipment or maintaining / repairing equipment.

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.

Demonstrated ability to follow protocols and processes relating to equipment maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate of Applied Science Degree. Degree must be obtained through an accredited Institution. Education will be verified.

Certificate obtained with the completion of a clinical/biomedical engineering technician course.

Two years of experience relative to the caregiver clinical environment role.

Physical Requirements

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.

Frequent interactions with customers that require employee to communicate as well as understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.

Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.

Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment. Will also work on hands and knees and bend to set-up, troubleshoot, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.

For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. 

$26.84 - $42.28
