Overview**Acute Care PNP Required upon hire**
The Dir, Heart Center Clinical supports the mission and vision of the Heart Center by providing day to day operational oversight and leadership support for clinical services and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN) and/or Physician Assistants. The position provides clinical and financial management oversight to plan, direct, monitor, communicate, and evaluate all clinical operations of the Heart Center, in a manner that uses CMLS to ensure optimal use of resources at all levels. The Dir, Heart Center Clinical supports comprehensive patient and family services through effective participation with the interdisciplinary team. The Dir, Heart Center Clinical leads the application of new knowledge to advance all clinical and APP improvements at the department and in collaboration with APP leadership at the organizational level. This includes planning for clinical services, managing resources, and clinical documentation, key leader for department auditing (QA/QI), and continuously improving care and services provided by the Heart Center. This position assures that effective, safe, cost-efficient, patient centered care is delivered to meet patient/family health care needs in a timely manner and is responsible for developing effective leadership teams in all clinical areas of the Heart Center. ACCU: Provides 24/7 care for high-acuity cardiac patients in the Acute Care Cardiology Unit. Manages patient care, orders/interprets tests, develops diagnoses, and implements care plans. Responsible for progress notes and family education. Collaborates with residency staff, cardiac sub-specialties, and CV surgeons on post-operative care.
CICU: Provides 24/7 care for high-acuity cardiac patients in the Cardiac ICU. Manages patient care, orders/interprets tests, develops diagnoses, and implements care plans in collaboration with pediatric intensivists. Communicates with families, works with physicians, and collaborates with nursing staff and subspecialties. Assists CV surgeons with post-operative care. Responsibilities Provides leadership for nursing staff and the interdisciplinary patient care team to support high quality care of patients and families.Leads and directs care delivery systems for individual areas ( or ) within the Heart Center.Utilizes financial data to effectively manage the department operating budget, plan capital expenditures, and formulate a business plan for new programs or services.Leads the application of new knowledge and innovation to advance the Heart Center by building collaborative relationships, and knowledge throughout the Center and organizational level to assist with the advancement of clinical, quality improvement, lean work, and strategic direction for the Heart Center using improvement methodology while supporting the Children's Mercy Lean System CMLS.
Qualifications Acute Care PNP Required upon hireMaster's Degree required and 5-7 years experience 5-7 years of experience in nursing/APRN pediatric experience in a specialty area and progressive experience in leadership roles. Experience in program development.Or DNP preferred and 3-5 years of experience listed above.
