The Sentara Metabolic and Bariatric Care Center is looking for a dynamic Registered Dietitian to be an active member of our Interdisciplinary bariatric surgery team.  This position will collaborate with two Bariatric Surgeons, PA/Bariatric Coordinator, Bariatric Medical Assistant, and Patient Navigator to meet the needs of patients both pre and post bariatric surgery.

If Bachelor’s degree is in major other than Dietetics, the candidate must complete an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited Didactic Program in Dietetics.  If not registered at hire, must obtain within 9 months.Candidates with a minimum of one year of experience working in weight loss or bariatric surgery are preferredThe successful candidate will collaborate and participate in quality improvement initiatives to provide safe, efficacious, and high-quality care to each patient at all timesDietitian will facilitate support groups for bariatric surgery patients at least every two months (in person, web based, or teleconference) with proper documentation of meeting time, location, agenda, and attendanceMonitor Sentara Bariatric Facebook support groupReview bariatric supplement routine and nutritional labsParticipate as a Metabolic Surgery (MBS) Committee member for quarterly interdisciplinary meetings and small group quality team meetings

Responsible for managing patient's medical nutrition therapy in accordance with the medical staff approved clinical practice standards. Serves as a resource for nutrition education.
