Clinical Assistant Professor

The School of Health Professions at UT Health San Antonio is recruiting for a certified physician assistant with excellent clinical skills who are interested in staffing our acute care clinic. 

This is a flexible, part-time position, starting with two to three 8-hour shifts per month, with options to transition to full-time, depending on individual provider interest and availability.

The selected provider will be expected to staff the School of Health Professions Saturday acute care clinic.

Initial employment responsibilities will include:

·         Conduct patient-centric examinations and craft evidence-based workups and treatment plans within an acute care setting

·         Interpret basic in-clinic laboratory tests (e.g., urinalysis/urine dipstick, quick strep, and blood glucose)

·         Document patient care within standard electronic medical record application (e.g., EPIC)

·         Triage and manage patient flow efficiently to minimize wait times

·         Review and manage weekend tasks, including patient callbacks regarding lab results

·         Consult supervising physician based on the scope of practice and patient needs

Qualified Candidates must be comfortable seeing patients aged three months and up.

The selected PA must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), licensed by the Texas Medical Board, and must have a degree from a CAHEA, CAAHEP, or ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program.

Primary care or urgent care experience is preferred but not required.
