This role is an incredible opportunity to serve as a Clinical/Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT) in a physician practice setting, focusing on primary care sports medicine and orthopaedics. You’ll work under the supervision of a physician, adhering to established protocols and guidelines while delivering top-notch care to patients in these specialised areas. What You'll Do: Patient Intake and Assessment + Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations for musculoskeletal and medical conditions, including injury history, chief complaints, pain levels, and medication reconciliation. + Perform thorough physical examinations, including range of motion, strength testing, ligamentous stress testing, and functional assessments. + Document all evaluations and findings accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR). Treatment and Rehabilitation + Collaborate with supervising physicians to develop tailored patient care plans, including home exercise programmes and rehabilitation equipment fitting. + Fabricate and apply custom splints or casts and remove them as needed. + Educate patients on the proper use of rehabilitation devices, inhalers, glucometers, home nebulisers, and self-administration of injections. Procedural Assistance + Assist physicians with minor procedures such as biopsies, joint injections, PRP treatments, wound care, and more. + Perform intramuscular injections or vaccine administration as directed by established protocols. + Provide casting and splinting services as needed. Concussion Management + Use evidence-based practices for concussion evaluations, including clinical interviews, neurocognitive tests, balance assessments, and vestibular ocular motor screenings. + Collaborate with physicians to create personalised concussion care plans. Diagnostics and Follow-Up + Assist in managing diagnostic tests, such as X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans, and coordinate referrals to specialists. + Ensure timely communication of results and follow-up care with patients. Patient Communication and Education + Respond to patient inquiries and resolve issues within the scope of practice or escalate as necessary. + Provide clear, plain-language explanations of processes and care plans, using teach-back methods to ensure understanding. Preceptorship and Compliance + Serve as a mentor to undergraduate athletic training student interns. + Adhere to OSHA and Joint Commission (JHACO) policies and procedures.
