Job Description

The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the specific business unit in question.

This role is responsible for providing advanced or specialist legal support. It also partakes in actions related to legal risk management, technical training and marketing interventions. The incumbent is individually accountable for achieving results through own efforts over periods of up to 3 months.

Key Result Area

Legal Advice

Assists OMLACSA with litigation matters.Assists with project to ensure legal compliance.Conducts or participates in litigation if required.Provides advanced or specialist legal support.Provides assistance with semi-legal or contractual documents.Provides legal opinions/comments on legislation.

Product/Retail Support

Provides technical training on Financial Planning/Product Development/Retirement Funds/CS services and administration.Works on projects.Writes financial planning circulars.

Contributes to the appropriate management of legal risk within area of responsibility e.g. identifying legal risks.Facilitates mitigating action and may initiate action self by training and fixing, specifically where control break occurs or is likely to occur.

Stakeholder Management

Networks or serves on industry bodies if required.Networks with high-level client base and presents marketing talks.

Qualification Information

3+ years practitioner's experience 3+ years post qualification/ Industry experience.Post Grad legal qualification & professional registration Admitted practicing attorney/advocateLLB + articles. Registered CFP holder (Certified Financial Planner) Fully bilingual (Afrikaans and English)Excellent knowledge of the legislation relating to financial planning.Own transport essential.Possession of a valid driver’s license.Presentation and facilitation skills.Willing to travel and sleep over.Product & process knowledge
